Hot off the presses!!!! I just got off the phone with WEBER AGAIN. I have been getting comments that Weber is made in China. Here is the up-to-date information.
The Weber Genesis 2 and Spirit 2 are made in China.
The discontinued red kettle was made in China.
Everything else is made in the United States, and assembled in Illinois. Since this video is not about the Weber Genesis or spirit, the information is 100% accurate. Thank you
Quick question. Will the weber lid fit on the expert grill? Want to buy a kettle just for rotisserie and iam wondering if a kit for a 22" weber will fit the expert grill
My first grill was the expert grill kettle with the hinged locking lid that didn't seal at all, it was probably one of their first models. Attempting to smoke a brisket on that was my culinary school. These look much better.

Im no grill expert but always felt that Weber grills were just overpriced … just like Gibson guitars. Id rather buy a Brinkman, but thats just me.
Judging by your review I'm glad I went with the Webber Master touch. It's a bit taller and comes with extra grill baskets and risers. I'm about 5'9 and I'm top tier contestant for lower back problems
Does anyone know if the weber's 21-1/2" diameter grill grate fits on the Expert charcoal grill? Any insights would be appreciated. Thank you!
I drilled new holes for the ash catcher and mounted the circular bars down a bit (measured 3 times, drilled once), closed the orignal ones up with pop-rivets. I was able to get it to seal pretty darn good.
Is the vent “more down” or “lower?”

I purchased both grills. The expert grill appears to be better and can burn logs as fuel. I installed a heat shield and sealed the grill with gasket tape. Thanks for sharing.
To fix the air going around the ash container there's some smoker gasket tape on amazon for very cheap! It around 10$ a roll juate stick that there and here we go!
I just find it kind of disrespectful to Weber that they copied their grill and said ours is better and more improved. To me cooking in a Weber is a tradition. My dad taught me on his kettle and now I have my own . Much love to the bbq cookers out there ❤
I don’t like the idea of buying a knockoff of a classic item like a Kettle. It seems like they’re stealing and it’s a cheap move.
They all spend even my WEBERS. The Webers was USA made> the old ones >>> but there ALL CHINA MADE NOW >>> You don't need a pizza stone on grills! All you need is pizza pans, and a shot heavy duty handle pizza peel…My kettles just sets under the patio
There both excellent grills ! JUST PICK OUT THE CHEAPEST PRICED ONE 👍 Kingsford makes a good grill to. So does MR. BBQ Check there prices out as well!
Only additional I did was I bought Oklahoma Joe grill tape for the Expert Grill ash catcher and lid to minimize the air flow.
Watching this for the first time in June 2022. Im looking for a kettle grill and the Weber has skyrocketed in price over the past year or so. I think with a few mods this Expert Grill will serve me well.
I've got a Weber Bar B Kettle from the 60s. Works great . Avocado Green.
Dunno, my experience was different re: the ash catcher- mine fits snug, no gap. At all. Additionally, the removal of the ash catcher? Again, user dependent, but I find it quite simple- it's a "three point contact" operation, by "eyeeballing" simply kinda align the teeth to the hooks prior, insert, and drop the pan in. I looked again at your struggles at the 15:10 mark and smiled as my experience was nothing like this. Again, depends on the user and there may be slight variances per unit in fit and finish that affect this, but I'm just speculating. All said, it's horses for courses, your mileage may vary, but I didn't find enough difference in quality and product to justify $219 for the base Weber kettle vs the $89 I paid for this grill. Others may feel differently, I'm sure both will offer satisfactory results
Great review. Very simple fix for the gap in the bottom ash bucket on the Expert Grill. I simply put a couple of washers under the mounting plates so the hooks mount up higher. The bucket now sits perfectly flush with no gap. I bought mine at Walmart on clearance for $49.00. I had to hammer out a few dents and clean up some rust, but it’s as good as new. I wouldn’t trade for the more expensive Weber.

I have all weber models for a long time, and I think this Expert Grill for the price is a better grill.
I know i'm late to the party, but Expert Grill made a mod to the ash tray gap, and there is no longer a gap there.
I went from really interested to nevermind.
My Weber is almost 50 years, the bottom is rusted to the point where either I need to buy a new grill or do a major repair. It has sat outside w/o a cover most of the time. The Expert looks nice but I don't know. I would feel like a traitor buying one of them.
Hi loved your review!!! can you do me a favor and get me the model# for the expert grill superior kettle grill? I bought the Canadian version and the grate doesnt have a the opening to put in charcoals later. I can get the same grate as the one you have if I can get the model# from you!!

I have one of the expert grills would not buy again the ash system is bad, way to much air /hard to control temps !
I have a vortex grill grate, and have the Spider Venom on order. The original (and the best) has a terrific ecosystem of aftermarket products made to work with it (including the SnS, until they decided to poach business and be pretty shameless about the form-factor).
I’d rather stick with my iconic Weber kettles.
