Homemade Bread for Beginners EASY Recipe in 5 Minutes of Hands On Time a Day

Enjoying homemade bread doesn’t mean slaving away in the kitchen for hours. With my tried and true SIMPLE dough recipe, you’ll have two delicious loaves of crusty and chewy artisan bread on your table with just 5 minutes of work.

What’s even better, this dough will store perfectly in the refrigerator for up to 14 days, so make this dough up ahead of time and have a hot fresh loaf of bread on the table in about an hour!

No dutch oven? No problem! Though I tend to use my dutch oven for this recipe, I have a special trick that will still yield a nice crust with that perfectly crunchy chew.

  1. I LOVED this recipe. It’s so easy and tasty. I’m not able to believe that I can make my own delicious bread AND have dough at hand in my fridge. I also loved some of the tips that made it relatable and simple to gain confidence in baking bread. My fave was the tip for knowing if the water temp is good for adding to your yeast. Thanks for sharing!

  2. I think your bread look awesome, but I’ve seen people doing this between 1 hr for raising of the dough, and right into the oven with the same results. Crunchy outside and completely cooked inside. Why the difference of timing if the result is the same?

  3. I might try this…neither my Mom nor I have been able to get bread to rise (that is, stay risen) in the last 20 years or so…not sure what happened…it just rises and then flattens, no matter which recipe or ingredients, or even using the exact same recipe that used to work! Mom has pretty much given up but I will give this a try.

  4. Can you use whole wheat (hard red or hard white) instead of all purpose flour? I prefer to leave the whole wheat berry (freshly milled). Please advise!! This bread looks amazing and I would love to try it for hamburger and hot dog buns!

  5. I liked all the comments, I thought they were quite funny. Melissa had me at 30 minutes too…I like everything about this bread! Store up to 14 days in the fridge and bake in 30 minutes…those are really great benefits! Thanks for a great video Melissa!
