We asked Grill Master Randy to show you how to buy a barbecue smoker, then we did our best to cut this video down to somewhere around 5 minutes. Jokes aside, there’s seriously so much to consider when buying a BBQ smoker, but Randy breaks it down to 4 simple decisions you have to make throughout the buying process. Just like when you’re actually using a barbecue smoker, the place to start is with the fuel. Randy runs down the advantages of charcoal smokers, electric smokers, pellet smokers, and even gas smokers to help you hone in one the fuel type that makes the most sense for you. Then it’s on to the differences between BBQ smoker types — offset, vertical, and the hard-to-define unconventional models — before a quick glance at what separates freestanding smokers from their built-in brethren. Our barbecue smoker buying guide concludes with an overview of our classifications, which are used to sort models by their quality, performance, and features. Yep, all that in 5 minutes flat! Now we all have more time to spend with our smokers.

Short, concise, informational. Thank you for providing these in a well organized way for begginers. I am a begginer and recently bought an electric smoker. Unfortunately I am very disappointed in the taste and appearance of the results. Just didnt achieve the smoke ring and taste i anticipated. Im onto the next step debating what to get next. A vertical or an offset smoker? A pellet or a charcoal/wood smoker. Any recommendations that are budget friendly? Tia!
