  1. Mean no disrespect, but I think all this exotic cutting board care is a bunch of marketing bull hooey. I gave a teak end grain 15 x 20 x 2. Use it alot with Shun Premiers. I slap vegetable oil in it about every three months and let it sit overnight then wipe it down. Had this board 27 years. Good to go.

  2. I prefer food grade pure tung oil (not tung oil finish). Mineral oil never dries, so while it will protect wood while it's in contact, it can wash away with use. Tung oil dries, creating a protective coating in the pores of the wood. It can be diluted with citrus solvent (like Nature's Orange) so it penetrates into the wood, but will still cure and provide lasting protection.
