Mean no disrespect, but I think all this exotic cutting board care is a bunch of marketing bull hooey. I gave a teak end grain 15 x 20 x 2. Use it alot with Shun Premiers. I slap vegetable oil in it about every three months and let it sit overnight then wipe it down. Had this board 27 years. Good to go.
Should i avoid washing my cutting board with soap?
Any purchased cutting board should be fine without "seasoning". Just don't let them sit in water
Helpful. TY!
what is the best cleaning for stainless steel pot
How often do I need to season a bamboo cutting board?
I've absorbed a lot of water, in the form of Bourbon. Is that why I'm so warped?
Yes! And good quality cutting boards are safe and sanitary. Plastic is ok, but wood is better.
Yep. This is why I use plastic boards.
Short and clear explanation. Love it.
I love that last bit of info, it answered my question.
I wash my boards and have never seasoned them. Never had an issue but if I do I’ll just buy more clearance cutting boards.
My boyfriend board smells an in some spot it looks like it has mold or mildew. Should he buy a new board or sand it down.
Thank you
That bottle of board treatment will last 1000 years! I mean, how often do you buy a new board?
👍
i treat my board with a diluted solution of hydrogen peroxide every 6 month before seasoning with mineral oil
I prefer food grade pure tung oil (not tung oil finish). Mineral oil never dries, so while it will protect wood while it's in contact, it can wash away with use. Tung oil dries, creating a protective coating in the pores of the wood. It can be diluted with citrus solvent (like Nature's Orange) so it penetrates into the wood, but will still cure and provide lasting protection.
Thanks .
