How To Make A DIY Mini BBQ Rotating Grill

DIY Mini BBQ Grill: this is a new idea to make a mini BBQ (but it can be use also for a bigger one, no differences!) that use the weight to rotate the planetary and so to present always a different face to the fire !!

The operating principle is based on the precession motion of the planets around the earth: in fact the rotating axes describe a cone.

For this reason they must be free to rotate on a much larger bore (9mm bore, 7mm shaft, the square bars with round ends in the video)

As can be seen from the video, the food does not appear on the fire with the same face but continues to change, thus cooking the food evenly!!

Surely it can be improved, for example by making the thickness of the female star double that of the male one, but as always, with hindsight, it is always easy to see some modifications!! 🙂

  1. In this video I show you the construction of a mini BBQ, made with my SIEG SX3L milling machine and my Colchester Bantam lathe: I applied an idea that came to me while watching a documentary on the motion of our planets, the movement you see is precession , similar to that of a spinning top, but not on a horizontal but vertical plane: saving belts and gears and using only the weight force, I hope you like it !!
