“Washing” liquor with butter, bacon, or other flavorful fats can make both the liquor—and the fat—tastier. Lan Lam shows you how to fat wash at home.

Super combo! Thanks for the idea Lan!
1:13 EVERYTHING taste good with butter, so far anyway. If it didn’t taste good when you started, it helps, but don’t get stoooopad.
I’ve done this with aged rum and it was great for sipping on its own. I used melted butter so had to do some straining but I think the total process was a little quicker.
I absolutely love ATK, but y’all need to quit with cocktails. Your recipes, measurements (sometimes in tablespoons??) and techniques are typically trash. You need to clarify butter when using it for fat washing AND it should be liquid when you add it to the booze. Non-clarified butter leaves a cloudy, sad looking drink.
There are AMAZING craft cocktail bartenders all over the US. Let someone qualified host videos about alcohol.
Ignorant question, but does the butter contain alcohol afterwards? Just don't want to accidentally serve anyone that is sober or children! Haha, thanks!
I love your stuff, Lan.
I love this woman.
I made buttery booze shots with the booze, and I made boozy butter shots with the butter! 😂 chase the first with 3oz water, or take a quarter shot of the butter after you take a bite of bread!
If you want something amazing for the butter, use a strong spiced rum like Sailor Jerry's, and put it on Cinnamon Toast or French Toast.
Browned butter fat wash rum. It's just amazing.
"Boozy" ice cream would be 100000000000x better…
Another grate idea 😎
Interesting. Why wouldn't the butter keep longer than 3 days in the fridge? Booze doesn't spoil. Butter lasts for months in the fridge. Why would this combination fail to last more than 3 days in the fridge?
not sure if i would like the buttery booze, but the boozy butter should be really good for cookies
Never heard of this before, but it sounds great!
I don't think Ryan Doka has tried this yet?
Good video but AWEFUL shaking.
eesh…
Not going to lie, Lan Lam barely moves much in this video… this could now be easily made with AI based on all of the recent videos coming out using Flux/LoRA to produce an AI image of a baker (or of Lan Lam) and then using Runway Gen-3 image-to-video technology to make the video of her talking.
So, butter beer!!!
This opens up so many possibilities. I would guess that if you're in a more tropical mood this would also work with solid coconut oil.
Grand Marnier infused butter for crepes? Would that work?
I have a feeling that many people are not aware that there's water in butter.
Perhaps something to educate for people in general. (percentage amounts, etc.)
Is there a halaal recipe?
Are you kidding? You're advocating making it "tastier" to drink alcohol? Haven't many of us already suffered enough from this drug???
I never seen anything like this before, these new day chefs came up with something interesting.
Looks like Lam likes this product very much. I think I see that her eyes were highly dilated with this video !!! Hiccup ! Yeah! … put summore butter on that bread, slather it on, the more the merrier ! Yummy bread, intoxicating bread.
Would have liked to see the separation process after the 2 days
My bestie is gonna be drunk off butter, thanks guys! 😂🥴
Puke
I bet it would be amazing with whiskey and add to homemade Irish cream?
sounds delicious BUT…the spirit will keep for 2 weeks? im gonna have to call saftey bs on that. if the alcohol content didn't reduce that much it's gonna last much longer than that.
Thank you.
Amazing! I learned something new! Thank you, Lan Lam, muh appreciated.
I usually do this browned butter to make an Old Fashioned (with maple syrup instead of sugar), and then I use the bourbon brown butter to fry pancakes or meat in
Idk why, but I think this is going to be one of my favorites… I know I love a good hot buttered rum, boozy butter never crossed my mind! I'm curious to find out what it can be used on… Stay happy, healthy and safe!😊
Nah..no
