This is all wrong
We dont use chicken broth in stew peas or celery and we don’t tie up our spices and mi neva si bay leaf use in a stew peas and we no use onion either. Who yall learn it from
I absolutely love ATK but have never seen a dish where literally every single step was wrong. They should have called it “ Jamaican stew peas with a twist”. A lot of ingredients not used in a traditional recipe eg Bay leaves. The end product actually looked like “puke”. I don’t think they did enough research, they would never make say a French dish and screwed it up and not get negative feedback.
Hey gal a no so we cook stew peas.
The problem Jamaican have we give away everything. chat too much. You can never get a Chinese secret
Jamaican first time l see stew peas cook like this ,no way this is Jamaican stew with a different twist 😂
They dont want you here but quick to steal from the culture because they dont have any for themselves. Stop giving away culture for others to make money off of
Long or short of what I wanted to say DON'T SPOIL OUR MEALS I know you guys don't like criticism and maybe my word "VOMIT" was wrong but that is definitely how we do our stewpeas and I'm sure all of us as Jamaicans feel the same way just to see what is being done
Jamaicans would NEVER take off the hock skin……..
Great to see more Jamaican cuisine on ATK. Well I have been eating Stew Peas for over 30 years and the original recipe calls for Salted Pigs Tails. Ham Hicks and salted turkey necks work but ORIGINAL JAMAICAN 🇯🇲 RECIPE is PIG TAIL (corned).
That is not Jamaican stew peas.
Fishing spinner I don’t think so! Is because you spin it in your hand!
Flavor bundle NOT traditional!
Oh dear no flavor bundle!
There is no celery in this dish!
I'm a Jamaican and that's not how we make strew peas
That's far from how Jamaicans would cook stewed peas, bootleg stewed peas.🇯🇲
god bridget looks so old now
Like so many international dishes this one was somewhat "americanized" too. Be it a German, French, Italian or – as seen here – Caribbean meal, they're next to never authentically prepared by this channel. 😒
Video is New Orleans Red Beans and Rice with Spinners.
1:29 What exactly is this about. Stew Pea dont cook like that no Oil of any kind is used. She cooking Red Beans and Rice. Never see or use Celery in any Jamaican food never mind Stew Pea. No need to pierce Pepper, you get a hot pepper and wouldmnt be able to eat, just wash and put unpierced pepper in the pot
Uncovered oh NO and not ever is food cooked uncovered. Who she watched cook this?
5:11 kneed it, no you mushed it; flour must be kneeded not the tossed Flour sticky
Spinners because they are rolled/ spin in palm.
6:42 need more liquid need more than five minutesto cook
7:20 that is Green Onion n I t Scallion big differences in flavor
Knew eventually someone would connect Stew Peas with Red Beans and Rice
Im a Jamaican, and that is not how u cook jamaican stew peas. If you are going to try and make our dishes, please watch and see how it's done before presenting it as an authentic jamaican dish.
Think the part she missed is what makes jamaican stew peas so amazing is the different type of meat we had to it and it should have a lot of meat in it other than that small amount of meat. Very good attempt though because you used up the flavors like the scotch bonnet, thyme, scallion and garlic.
Hmmmm I question the way she does this. We do it totally different in Jamaica.
Nice try
Antoinette so good to see her!
Jamaicans please gather here 😂
I don't know what ur Granma teaches u but that's not stew peas pls get someone teaches u the rite way that's Not Jamaica stew peas
What about the Jamaican that dont eat pork or meat , I think there is diffrent version
That's not how Jamaican stew peas is cook it all wrong
I love seeing my culture on display but to get the authentic flavor salted pigtail and salted beef .Ham hock and other smoked meat are a very good substitute.
A different way from the average Jamaican method.
Ingredients authentic 😮
The name spinners refers to the shaping of the dough, by rolling in the palm. This version is inspired by the original version.
I have a coconut allergy. What would be a good substitute for the coconut milk? Regular milk or heavy cream?
My absolute favorite Jamaican dish, especially made with oxtail. These ingredients are a little different than what I grew up with, but you really can't go wrong with Stew peas, spinners and white rice.
The grubs look delicious!
Actually the original uses pigtails. Some people may use salted beef but traditionally cured pigtails are used
My Fave Cooking Channel…Only Deliciousness 🤤😋😀YUMM..MORE PLEASE!!
I wonder why they wouldn't just add fresh water back in, rather than bean water (which often contributes to gas).
If you're gonna do or showcase a traditional recipe you should at least try to do it authenticly. Ham hocks? No, It is usually made using salted beef and or salted pig's tails. Both are very easily sources throughout North America.
hey is that winner of ATK The Next Generation?! Finally seeing her after how many years? She's still cute.
Antoinette has the most beautiful voice and accent! And that recipe!!
Well hmmm, not how we Jamaicans make stew peas but it was done your way, what I don't like is if you're gonna say Jamaican food, well do it the Jamaican way. Don't say Jamaican stew peas and do something different. Better you had said your spin on Jamaican stew peas. Lol we just make spinners and drop in the pot, no perfection, nevertheless thanks for the effort.
It's definitely not the way that most Jamaicans cook stewed peas. Good try through. It's probably good, just not as good as the original. We use pig tails and beef or smoked turkey neck. No celery ever!
I'm Jamaican and I wouldn't eat this. Not how it's done nasty. And I like test kitchen. Dwl😂
Cooking stew peas Yankee style 😂. measurement measurement measurement 😂.
Am sorry but what this woman talking about!!!! This is not the way to make stew peas no no No no, if you are a Jamaican u know that's not the way to make stew peas, what the F…k😂😂😂😂😂
No ma’am, stop putting Jamaican in it. That is so not stew peas.. I would 🤮 with that.
That is not how we do our stewpeas,, I would vomit if I had that
So cool to see Antoinette again!! Been looking for her since ATK NG which I wish would come back for another season. Her winning recipe for burnt ends is still on my to-cook list. This looks like a winner too. Great presentation.
