How to make Kerala-Style Beef Perattu | Spicy Semi-Dry Beef Roast Recipe | Easy Beef Perattu at Home

Kerala-Style Beef Perattu is a semi-dry beef roast, packed with bold flavors from black pepper, Kashmiri chili, and aromatic spices. The beef is first pressure-cooked with masalas, ensuring it turns tender and absorbs all the rich flavors. It is then slow-roasted in coconut oil with onions (traditionally, shallots are used), tomatoes (though not traditionally used, I have added them for tanginess and moisture), green chilies, and fragrant curry leaves, creating a thick, flavorful coating that clings to the beef. This dish has a deep, roasted aroma with a slightly moist masala, making it perfect to enjoy with Kerala parotta, rice, or tapioca (kappa). The touch of coconut oil and the blend of spices give it an authentic Kerala-style taste!

Ingredients :

Ingredients in Pressure Cooker :

500 gms Boneless Beef (washed, drained & cut into medium pieces)
½ tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tsp heaped Kashmiri Chilli Powder
1 tsp Coriander Powder
1 tsp Meat Masala Powder
½ tsp Black Pepper Powder
½ tsp Garam Masala Powder
½ tsp Salt (or as per taste)
1 sprig Curry Leaves
1 to 2 tbsp Coconut Oil (use as per your diet restrictions)
50 ml Water

Ingredients in the Kadhai :

2 to 3 tbsp Coconut Oil (use as per your diet restrictions)
½ tsp Fennel Seeds (saunf, perumjeerakam)
2 large size (180 gms) Onion (sliced)
½ tsp Salt (or as per taste)
A pinch of Sugar (to balance out the flavours)
½ inch (8 gms) Ginger- (finely chopped)
18 to 20 nos (20 gms) Garlic (finely chopped)
1 tsp heaped Kashmiri Chilli Powder (use as per your spice tolerance)
½ tsp Black Pepper Powder
1 tsp Coriander Powder
½ tsp Garam Masala Powder
2 medium size (120 gms) Tomatoes – (sliced or finely chopped)
2 nos Green Chillies (whole, slit or punctured)
1 sprig Curry Leaves

Note : tsp is teaspoon
tbsp is tablespoon
Use Oil as per your diet restrictions
Use Chillies as per your spice preference
Always wash curry leaves & coriander leaves before use
