I grew up in Oregon and my family attended the Warm Springs Pow Wow several times and we would always get the Indian fry bread with honey butter and huckleberry jam. Sooo very good but I will say it looks like it was thicker more similar to an elephant ear, also a fry bread, this Navajo Fry bread looks much thinner and crispier.
It goes good with Spam or Bologna

Funny how we have different recipes yet it all tastes the same. Making Bannock or Fry bread is more of a learned experience imo. Watching your Mom, Kokums or aunties cook it all day, everyday. There was baked Bannock on the Woodstock constantly, fr 4am to midnight, daily. There was never a recipe. Hiy Hiy 🪶

I worked at a carnival in Arizona for a few weeks many years ago. At the carnival they had a truck that was selling what they called Navajo tacos. That bread is so good you wouldn't believe it. I've made these ever since on my own..
that's basically irish bread , the only difference between them is the navajo use water and the irish use sour milk .
I haven't had one of these in years. makes me long for the SW. Thanks for showing me that I can do this, too.

We eat a very similar bread in New England called "Doughboys", generally as a sweet treat with sugar and cinnamon.
