Watch how to make simple, comforting ground beef goulash. It’s macaroni and ground beef in a spicy tomato sauce with chili powder, paprika, and garlic. For a thicker sauce, just add tomato paste. And serve with crusty bread.

Think I will try this with a can of RO*TEL tomatoes.
I'm really not crazy about casseroles with the macaroni cooked in the pot with everything else, I find it adds too much starch to dish and I can taste it.
Thank you for your question, Rachel. You surely can use tomato sauce instead. We'd recommend you use a thicker sauce so that the consistency is not varied too much.. Go ahead and use the same amount as recommended for the stewed tomatoes.
can i use tomato sauce instead of stewed tomatoes? and if i use tomato sauce, how much do you think i will need?

I'm sorry, this ain't goulash. My Hungarian grandmother would be horrified.
I make this without the cheese but with garlic, red and green bell peppers, potatoes, white wine, vermicelli (instead of any other pasta), sour cream, and parsley. Tastes awesome and it's one of my comfort foods during the rainy season.
its not, this in no way is actual goulash
This isn't true and real Hungarian Goulash…but it is good for what it is. I believe here in Europe there is a completely different name for this.

Actually, Goulash is Hungarian soup.
Austrians have an adopted version of it, which is kinda like this- a stew, but they don't put pasta in it!
My mom use to make this all the time. I didn't know this is what it's called.
I've been looking for an easy recipe for goulash and you have delivered yet again. Thank you Allrecipes!
