Really
Ummm….has no one noticed the hot ginger behind Ashley??? 😍😍😍
I like the "mallet on the bench scraper" method. Saves your good chef's knife from an "off-center" hit!
I insert my chef knife, wrap the squash in plastic wrap, then wack the squash on my laundry room floor using the knife handle as a— um— handle. Quite cathartic. 😂
Love this! I've been using a rubber mallet for years for cutting into winter squash. To make it a little easier, i pop the squash into the microwave for up to 45 seconds on high; works really well for me 🙂
Very helpful. Thank you 😊
I'm looking forward to ATK's rubber mallet review. 😛
Chef always has good tips for the average Joe. I love squash. TFS chef. You rock. Hope to see you in the next video. God bless.
Who has been gnawing on the rubber mallet?!?
Great information and tips.
I cut the ends off my butternut squash before I peel it. I never need a mallet.
I’m surprised she didn’t mention zapping the squash in the microwave before peeling or cutting (2-4 minutes depending on size.). Makes cutting the squash SO much easier. Microwave until neck is just too hot to hold in your hand. Allow to cool until handleable. Always works for me on butternut, delacata, pumpkin and similar relatively thin shinned winter squash.
What about banana and Hubbard?
I just use a small 8" chain saw, so much faster. But I've found that the rubber mallet with the chain saw just leaves too many black chunks in the squash… 😁 Thanks for the mallet tip, I always have one in the tool box I keep next to the kitchen so now it will actually move into the kitchen.
Great tip with the mallet!
Can we get more recipes on preparing meat? Namely red meats: beef, lamb, bison, goat, etc…
Yes or no to actually eating/using the seeds of the b-nut squash ..
It's so good, so comfortable without any background musics and sounds! 💚
¾" – 1" cubes of squash, lightly oiled with a neutral oil, sprinkle with cinnamon, bake/roast until soft, enjoy!
So glad to learn the rubber mallet trick.
A rolling pin wrapped in towelling makes a decent mallet.
Hi 👋 from Johannesburg South Africa 👍
I've always used a rubber mallet for some of my DIY projects and for crushing ice but it never occurred to me to use it to assist cutting a squash! Great tip!!😊♥️
Darn – – you cheated !!! ( 😂😂 ) I was hoping you would roast some seeds. If so, I was wishing you would show how to get the fibrous slime off the seeds before roasting. But you didn't !!! ???
Lmao. I can't imagine ever incorporating a rubber mallet into my kitchen tools.
Hello ATK
Salutations from California 😋
Winter squash ❄️❄️❄️ it's almost spring time. I don't get this all. I pass.
What about Hubbard squash? I love the blue or gray Hubbard squash. Anything for those?
Great tips ! Carry on!!!
Adds rubber mallet to wish list
