For applying the canola oil, what is the order of operations? Heat the grill for 30 min, turn it off and cool, apply the oil (saw you flip the grates and assume you let it cool) and then let it heat up again?

Why did you oil the bottom of the cover? Now there are shiny marks on it, and it looks bad. Please provide information.
