Meh I don't have a microwave. Gets a bag and a hammer.
But what if there’s going to be time between measuring and mixing? I tried the microwave trick last weekend and found the sugar hardened back up as it sat out & cooled. (I usually just use bread and leave it for a day or two, but I had forgotten to add a slice last time when I noticed it was starting to dry out.)
I use bread to soften stale cookies, too
I know people won't believe this but if you keep your brown sugar in the freezer, it never gets hard. I've had it in the freezer for about a year & it's still pliable. It doesn't freeze.
What if I don’t have a microwave 🫤
I just drop bread in the bag and seal over night. No microwave
Great info. I used a sugar bear, so I never have hard brown sugar. The trick is to remember to rehydrate the best every few months. 😁 This is good to know if it happens to me.
Put a terracotta disc, soaked in water in the container and it keeps the sugar soft for weeks.
Saran wrap?
Love you guys!!
Thank you, your timing is excellent. I found my brown sugar bag was left open so now it’s a bunch of hard rocks. I’ll try this suggestion.
Your hand and arm movements always freak me out lol
I appreciate this series 🫶🏽🥹
I want your Advent Calendar!
This works really well although I find I have to put it at 20 or 30 seconds at least – could just be my microwave though 👍🏻
Just drive over it.
You are ruining Christmas
I don't know who she is, but I love her! And I love these tips and tricks!
If you don't have a microwave put a damp paper towel in a zipper bag with the brown sugar. It should soften up nicely overnight.
I just make mollases with old brown sugar
Bread? What? Huh? Mind blown!
Could I just add more molasses and make dark brown sugar instead?
I didn't know the microwave could do that. I've put bread in with brown sugar and leave it for 24 hours, then remove the 'now' hard bread and you'll be left with soft sugar.
The bread isn't necessary just put a small bit of water. All it needs is steam
You don't have to waste a slice of bread. Just wet a paper towel and squeeze it dry and add to container of sugar. It will be done in a few hours.
How are you so beautiful?
If you don’t have a microwave oven: Put your brown sugar into a freezer bag and close it, then, whack at it with a rolling pin or the smooth side of a meat mallet.
