Thanks!
I keep my dried herbs and spices in a dark cool cabinet. Most are still fragrant at 2 years and taste good. I always go through all my kitchen things annually before Thanksgiving…early Nov. That gives me time to replaced tossed things in time for the holidays.
I use the holiday season to change over dried herbs. Many are on sale and we are doing a lot of shopping at that time of the year.
Or just put more in when cooking.
We need to talk about the genocide in Palestine!
My spices go bad when my wallet (and the economy) can afford for them to.
This tip is also stale. ATK has an annoying habit of taking one thing and making several videos with the same content.
Thanks!!!

…that is why you shouldnt store them in your cabinet… you should store them in your freezer. Greatly extends freshness
Thanks!
this a scam for real.
Thanks for the heads-up!
I love the blunt and sassy "It's time to toss!"
Good lord, I thought they had a shelf life of 20 years!! 😥
I have a jar of ground oregano that was my mother's – it must be over 40 years old now! It has absolutely no aroma, but I can't toss it because it reminds me of her. 🙂
DOES IT MATTER "WHERE" YOU STORE THE SPICES? LIKE NEXT TO THE STOVE, WOULD THEY DRY OUT FASTER? ALSO IS GLASS BETTER THAN PLASTIC FOR STORAGE?
I have one which is 6 years old and smells veey steong still mostly because I never open it
"freshness over tyme…" 🤨 oh the punishment.
We have spices that are at least 30 years old, yet they still passed the sniff test shown in this video. At what point should we worry about food safety?
Awesome info thanks
If you’re a white American, they’ll taste spicy after a decade.
When our moms wanted to get fancy, they’d sprinkle a dash of paprika on a deviled egg or something equally bland.
And hold the salt, that’s not good for you!
I have thought about this often — I have tons of herbs and spices, many of them 10+ years old, and they seem to still be good! Nary a rancid curry, nor a tasteless oregano. Perhaps not as pungent, but definitely not bad by any stretch.
