Hutchins BBQ has been a staple in the DFW area for almost 50 years – and what an incredible journey it’s been! How do they maintain such high quality while making over 3,000 briskets and over 4,000 pounds of sausage every week? Come along and find out – and also learn how this amazing family has overcome tragedy not one but FOUR times and still manages to come out on top!

Welcome to Behind The Food TV! On this channel I document my journey to become a better cook. I travel to meet chefs and pitmasters at the top of their game – and somehow convince them to teach me the techniques that make their food special. I enjoy getting to know them, their families, and their communities – and I hope you enjoy it all just as much! 1. The only thing better than great BBQ is the people who make it. Al, you have a special gift of getting them to open up and tell the good, the bad, and the ugly about BBQ life. The trials and tribulations of the Hutchins family, and the faith, love, and tenacity it took to overcome them, is an inspiration to us all. Congratulations on one of your best episodes ever.

  2. Dang this is cool, long time subscriber to your channel and now you’re doing a video at the bbq spot near my house that I frequent. Been going there since they offered AYCE meats, sad to see that option go since I was able to get so much high high quality bbq for a low price, but I get it 😂. Hutchins is top notch and deserves the recognition. Top 5 in Texas IMO. Glad it’s getting highlighted

  3. What a great family for sure and the fact that the 3rd generation is already pitching in big time guarantees that Hutchin's will live on for generations. The fire, the bankruptcy, the lawsuit; this family has survived it all. I'm particularly impressed with the large staff and the brother's dedication to their employees. Texas BBQ at its finest right there, oh and the Texas twinkies are on my to do list. Way to go, Al!

  4. Family first for sure, and it needn’t be blood relations – however, sometimes a line needs to be drawn and accepted. Wonderful for Trey and Tim to have such a bond together that will continue when it’s their turn to slow down

So Al, how many twinkies did you scoff whilst filming ? And wow to the links, both the steps involved in making that many at a time, but the finished result too. Again your face when the special bits kick in

That brisket roll, is about the consistency I do my pulled pork – fantastic between whatever bits of bread – in a roll, a bun, two slices of bread, whatever. The brisket does look amazing too

    Another great video
