When I was little, if it was ever really cold or someone in my family was sick, my mom would make chicken broth. I can remember it simmering on the stove for hours, and when it was finally ready it tasted so good.

You wanna know the best way to get rid of any cold/flu like symptoms? Boil up your old ham-bones from thanksgiving or what have you. Keep reducing the broth down and you will have a super fatty and Rich stock. I go to at a slow boil for at least 2 and a half hours. Add seasoning to taste. That is if you can eat pork.
My grandma would just give me vicks and a sprite,say a prayer,and then left to fate if the fever would get me or not
