I’m currently making my own and I’m just curious as to if your table ever burns. Because I’m scared that the grill will get so hot it’ll burn the table. Is that a thing I need to be worried about?

In Thailand they came to our table and inserted a pot of hot coals then placed the cook top over the coals. I think the pot was cast iron or a heavy duty metal not aluminum, I'm not sure how a thin metal can holdup to the heat without warping. I want to do this to a picnic table If I can only find a heavy metal pot for the coals. Then make an stand into the table to drop the pot into.
