I wonder why ATC with all their precision still cooks with imperial units. Please provide us with weight amounts!
Please don’t say “naan bread” which is just bread bread. And for those complaining about the time and effort, make chapatis instead. They’re another kind of Indian flatbread which comes together in under 30 minutes which is what many of us Indians do
Those who are complaining that’s it a small amount of naan for the effort. This recipe is actually worth it. I’ve made it for a for years now and I even managed to veganize it. Just make a double batch and you will get 8, it freezes well to (if I remember correctly). It is worth the effort. I think I would just add extra oil, to veganize, seems to work just as well.
I love trying new cooking methods and felt up to this challenge, but, honestly? Way too much work for 4 naan that make a mess of my kitchen with flour, melted butter (cup, plate, brush), foil on and off of the plate in my oven, pot holders, spray bottle (which makes the flour stick to the counter where you need to roll out the next naan), pricking fork, etc, etc, etc.
No, thanks. I will be getting my naan from the Indian Grocery a 40 minute drive from home from now on!
There is no egg in traditional naan… Try ghee instead
Make Roti instead. They r quick and easy.
I go to Indian grocery store and buy a family pack of 20 frozen garlic cilantro naan for $6.99… can't beat that.

I love naan bread and my favorite is garlic naan, but im sorry this video makes it too complicated and your recipe is very similar to pita bread. Theres so many videos of how to make an authentic Naan bread here youtube, i even saw one that doesn’t use a tandoori oven, just a non stick pan plus no oven. I even tried it but tandoor still is the best.

Not exactly easy
If you are making naan at home, i wouldn’t bother with a recipe that calls for a 24hr fermentation with yeast. The key factor in a good naan is the tandoor oven which you can’t replicate at home. Cast iron Skillet isn’t going to cut it. Look at alternative naan recipe from Indian users who use an inverted skillet directly over a gas flame. That combined with a baking soda based recipe will give you an instant naan that will turn out way better than what you are going to get with this recipe. Naans are NOT supposed to be pillowy soft flat breads. Good naans are usually very rustic and made with a combination of whole wheat and refined flour. Look up a naan recipe from bharatskitchen on YouTube if you want something close to a real naan at home. But to be honest, if you want a good naan, I’d go to a (good) Indian restaurant.
For those wondering about the yield-to-time-spent ratio, I can tell you that a half piece is plenty for a serving. Though it's is so good everyone in my house clamors for more. This naan is so delicious it steals the show on curry night. And don't try doubling – I make two separate batches if I am feeding more people.
That is wayyyyy too many steps for 4 pieces of naan. And it takes a day and a half?

So this is a good introduction, but you are missing the smokey flavor that you get from tandoor. any tips on how to get that?.

I always get a laugh when ever a recipe calls for keeping a fairly large object in a refrigerator and then they open the door of a large refrigerator and there is nothing in there.. When I open the door of my fridge I have to worry about something falling out.

How close to traditional is this recipe? Do the traditional recipes call for cold fermentation? Nothing matters I was just curious.

Plus once you perfect it you can say, Naan A'naana Booboo, I make bread better than you do!
I really enjoy watching these videos. But I’d just as soon buy the bread in the supermarket. It looks like a wonderful recipe for people with more time and skills than I have.
I make naans at home and I use a very similar technique – though I make a no-knead 'starter' instead of a full cold-fermented dough and add a little baking powder for extra fluffiness. Adding black onion/Nigella seeds gives a nice subtle flavour and if you really want an authentic tandoor-style finish I recommend using a blowtorch on the bubbled side instead of turning it over in the pan.
