Made this yesterday, it was very good. I sliced a little smoked salmon into the sauce before baking which was a good idea. Even better idea: grate some salt-cured egg yolk over it before serving to give it some of that carbonara richness, the lemon can handle it

Looks good but that is in way, shape or form a bechamel sauce. A bechamel is made with butter, milk and flour, not heavy cream.
