Ingredients:
* Mackerel fish – 5, big
For masala :
* Fresh coconut – 2 cup
* Onion – 1 small, roughly chopped
* Garlic – 7-8 cloves
* Coriander seed – 2 tbsp, roasted
* Cumin – 3/4 tsp, roasted
* Fenugreek (Methi) seed – 1 tsp, roasted
* Ajwain – 1/4 tsp, roasted
* Mustard seed (rai) – 1/4 tsp, roasted
* Black pepper – 1 tsp, roasted
* Kashmiri chilly – 4-5
* Round red chilli – 4-5
* Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
* Tamarind (lemon size) (soaked in 1/2 cup water)
* Water – 2 cup, add gradually
Fish curry preparation:
* Onion – 1 small, sliced
* Green chilly – 3-4
* Ginger – 2 inch, crushed
* Water as required to adjust consistency
* Salt – 1/5 tbsp, as per the taste
* Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp, chopped

Somewhat different than goan curry. We use masal without roasting but not so many masalas
I tried today. It's very tasty with rice, dosa and even chapati

While grinding first coconut and soices. Then paste. Then add tamarind grind again. Then add onion garlic methi and ajwain so that flavour rules the curry
I tried this today, but it turn out good, taste was bitter. Please add very little Fenugreek seeds😢
Is there any alternative to tamarind?

Tried the recipe based on the likes. But did not turn out good. I would suggest reduce the garlic to just 2-3 cloves and reduce the coconut to 1 cup. It might turn out well.

The flavour of the roasted ingredients better retained if it's powdered before adding the raw ingredients and water.
