I just suspend mine from the doorway or a light over the counter in cheese cloth n keep a bowl under it. Can also use paper towel, doesn’t actually give it a weird flavour if you’re not buying some weird type of paper towel. Grew up doing this making labneh w family. Don’t need the fancy stuff at all.

If someone is interested in the pros and cons of straining yogurt:
What you lose:
-Some whey protein: whey is a high-quality protein, so the total protein per gram of yogurt may drop a little.
-Some lactose: this can actually be a good thing if you’re sensitive to lactose.
-Some minerals: like calcium, potassium, and magnesium, since they dissolve in the liquid.
What stays:
-Most of the casein protein: the main protein in yogurt, which helps with satiety and muscle repair.
-Probiotics: the beneficial bacteria stay in the yogurt, not in the whey.
-Most vitamins and minerals: especially the fat-soluble ones like vitamin A and D.
