Meat Pasta Sauce
For the beef:
* 2 lbs ground beef
* 1 Tbs salt
* 1 tsp black pepper
* 1 Tbs sweet basil
* 1 Tbs oregano
Put beef and all ingredients in a sauce pan and brown meat. Drain meat and set aside until sauce is made.
For the sauce:
* 3 Tbs extra virgin olive oil
* 1 medium onion (chopped)
* 6 garlic cloves (minced)
* Two cans of San Marzano whole tomatoes
* 1 Tbs salt
* 1 tsp black pepper
* 2 Tbs sweet basil
* 2 Tbs oregano
* 1 cup red wine
*Except for the tomatoes, measurements are more like โguidelines.โ Adjust to your own taste.
On medium high heat, heat olive oil with onions & garlic in a saucepan and sautรฉ for about 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
Add the tomatoes followed by all their other ingredients. Mix well. As an option for a smoother sauce, use a hand blender until desired smoothness. Add browned ground beef, mix well again, and let sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes or until ready to eat, stirring occasionally. The sauce can simmer all day with occasional stirring.
