Serves 4
Ingredients:
1kg Beef shoulder (I used chuck which is good for slow cooking)
800g sliced onions
1 can (400g) chopped tinned tomatoes
200ml oil of your choice (I used coconut oil)
5 whole dried Kashmiri chiliies
3 bay leaves
1 cinnamon stick
2 black cardamoms
1 frozen peice each of ginger and garlic cubes or 1 tablespoon of the paste or puree
2.5 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons coriander powder
2 teaspoons Kashmiri chilli powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon regular chilli powder
1 tablespoon kasoori methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
1 teaspoon garam masala
Fresh coriander to garnish
Boiled water 500ml + 400ml

How many onions is needed for this recipe, please?
This looks so good, I never cook beef curry only chicken and lamb (for me husband hates lamb – I bought a book by Madhur Jaffrey 30 years ago and her Delhi style lamb and potatoes is still my go to as its so good), i will definitely throw this in this week and see how it goes down. thank you.

You said you used coconut oil instead of seed oil, but coconut is a seed too, it's just called a nut.
