Napoleon has really hit a home run here. This grill Is so stinking awesome! What is the phantom grill exactly? Well the phantom comes in 3 models, they have the new travel Q, the Rogue 425 SE and this grill in the video which is the Prestige 500. Lets clear up a misconception. First off, this grill is not a new model. A lot of people think its a whole new model, and it actually isnt. Its a regular prestige 500 that is absolutely tricked out. With 3 major differences. Its like a Ford F-150, and the raptor addition. The raptor is still a F-150 but way more awesome. That is essentially what the analogy is here. So what is different about this grill? Lets go over the 3 major differences. First and the most obvious thing is the paint finish. This grill is super unique in this way. I have never seen a grill with this matte black system. Which looks unbelievable! This grill is so beautiful and the attention to detail is super exquisite. The other upgrade is the warming rack, it is also super unique and I have not seen a multi functional warming rack like this either. And probably the most useful feature is going to be the cast stainless cooking grates. They really make this grill truly one of kind. I have never seen a grill with these features. This is actually going to change the way you cook, which is one of the most important features. Also this grill is super limited edition, and we have very limited qualities available.

  1. I may be in the minority… not because I don't think the Phantom is the best looking thing on the market… or because I don't want those cast Stainless… but because of a comment in the comment section where you talk about the sturdiness of the paint job…

I was dead set on spending the extra $500 on this beast… but BBQs outside are hard enough to keep clean and free from dings and scratches… Spending $500 more just to have to baby it or have it look like I took a weed whacker to it after a couple years, makes me say "pass"… now… if they could do some sort of Rhino Liner type of coating… THAT i would pay for!

I really REALLY love the look of this thing… but if I have to wear kid gloves just to keep it looking like this… ugh… that's a deal breaker for me!

Thanks for this video and all your other ones!

  2. Ok I finally took the plunge and bought the Napoleon Prestige Phantom…I gave away my Weber limited edition with sear burner and side burner. Assembly was pretty easy and time consuming if you follow directions. I must say I am not impressed. First of all the doors in my opinion suck. I found getting an even gap difficult. Second I find the grease tray very small. Third the rotisserie takes forever. As I write this a 7lb chicken has been on for 2 1/2 hours and still not done using the infrared burner. I seared some steaks on the side infrared burner and truthfully it was no better than on the Weber with sear burner. I find myself constantly freaking out to clean the matte black finish if anything drips on it and I bought rubber matts on Amazon for the side shelves so utensils or plates do not scratch shelves. If you are upgrading from a char broil grill or a Home Depot grill then I highly recommend it. If you have an older higher end Weber in good shape I would save the money. I am just happy I did not spend the extra 500 for the Napoleon pro with the lights which I almost did

  3. I buy everything based on reviews. Some said this was hard to put together https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt some guy said 2 hours and 2 beers later. I didn't drink beer like I was going to. I didn't feel like going to the store. I'm assuming I would have had at least 3. I took my time. Stepped outside for a cigarette break a couple times but all in all it was about a 3 hour project for me but it wasn't like it was difficult or anything . Only pictures but everything is pretty organized and labeled although I didn't see any #s on the actual pieces like it shows in the diagrams. Only the screws were labeled. On the cardboard part of the packaging on the back side. I put it together in my living room too. It wasn't supposed to rain today but it's Michigan and I couldn't wait so I put it together in my living room. Without beer but beer would definitely have made it more fun that's for sure. I'm giving this a 5 for easy assembly. I'll update after it stops raining when I can take it out of my living room and cook some food on it. Hope this helps at least for people who think they can't put this together because I did and you can too . And there are extra screws. I got nervous and immediately came here to see if others had the same experience and they have. You're not doing it wrong. There will be extra screws. Be patient. Don't rush it. Drink beer. Happy assembling

  4. It's well known that any flame with gas ( Think welding torch ) is supposed to be blue for the hottest, most efficient heat. the Weber Genesis I am also looking at has complete, even blue flame burners. Thanks for the video. Was going to order the Phantom today, but now I have to see if all of these burn the same yellow flame before deciding.

  5. Hey. I have the opportunity of buying one these grills from an individual who received a NG version by mistake and was told to keep it as he ha ordered a propane. I can buy it for next to nothing. How hard is it to convert to propane? Just jets being changed? Or are the manifolds also fuel specific? Thanks

  6. I’m the market to buy my first grill ever and napoleon just speaks to me. First I was gonna get a two burner rogue, then thought why not a three with infrared so it’ll last… now I think I need these cast stainless grates. Weber can’t compete with this now. They just don’t feel the same as the grill I had growing up. This thing is stylish. Now to find a spot to put it….

  7. I have one it is mediocre. After a year one of the igniters is dead. Worst of all it cannot maintain temp less than 300. Forget bbq on this. The grate and box are good but the rest is cheap. Would not buy one.

  8. Trevor acting skills annoys me, or he is really like that and then he is a shit boss… cause he sounds actually exhausted by shooting a video…. boring… how the hell can you be excited while sounding tired…?

  9. Nice and funny video!! Hello, I am writing from Germany and I have a question: I have a new Phantom Prestige 500 and when I grill, after a while, the lights of one of the regulators turn off…. third from left. After cooling down, it works again…. Could this be a problem, caused by the gravitation of the black hole in our solar system? Or is it something I can fix? Thank you for all the good videos on your channel and thanx for answering my question. Greetings from Berlin.

  10. This video had me cracking up. I’ve been so on the fence with which grill to buy. I was 100% going to buy a Weber until I found your channel a few weeks ago. Now I know for sure I’m getting a napoleon. I just can’t decide if I want the phantom or the pro 500

  11. Hi Trevor, your videos are the reason I finally bought a Phantom 500. It really is the coolest gas BBQ! BUT I now have a problem. The back of the firebox seems to be warped such that the two middle stainless steel grates are not sitting properly ie they seem a tad too short now. I am now wondering if Napoleon’s lifetime warranty will cover this? How can I fix it otherwise?

  12. I bought this grill and cannot be more satisfied. I highly recommend getting the rotisserie basket and the cast iron griddle accessories. Compared to a Weber, I think it’s a clear winner. Even compared to the more expensive Blaze LTE, that does have the better cast stainless burners, I think this grill has more features and is a better buy. My only issues is that I wish the rotisserie had another inch or two vertical real estate, it had a propane slide out holder, and it had a rotisserie holder for storage on the back of the grill. I love love the infrared side burner with the cast stainless grate. I use it all the time for steaks.

  13. Hi from the UK. Great videos. So I am deciding between this and the prestige pro 500. I’m not excited about the Matt black (I prefer the classic stainless look but this is also good.) I’m excited about the cast stainless grates. But it doesn’t have interior lights. But it DOES have a battery, so no wires, tripping hazards etc. So. What do I do. Are the cast grates REALLY going to be that much better than the 9.5mm rods and slightly thinner sear zone rods on the pro? They seem to be a killer feature.

  14. Wish this was out last November when I was looking to buy one. I bought the dark blue finish. Been happy with this unit hands down. You’re reviews have been thorough and it helped me purchase the Napoleon. The versatility is way better than Weber personally. I researched the crap out of it before I bought it. Thanks.

  15. I cancelled my order (not from you guys) after confirming that Napoleon warranty on the matte black finish is only 2 years. Stainless and porcelain enamel is lifetime. For $1599 to have a two year warranty on the finish is horrid. If they aren’t confident about discoloration then they chose the wrong paint for it. Such a shame, cool looking grill with awesome features but nobody should risk the grill looking like beat up junk. If they are confident that won’t happen under normal circumstances then they wouldn’t have such a limited warranty on it

  16. Looks great, I have a Prestige 500 and wondered if the new features parts such as the warming rack, and cast stainless grids (both IR burner and main grill) are backwards compatible with my older model? Not that I am not happy with my grill 🙂
