Ninja Foodi Smart XL Pro GRILL & GRIDDLE – Filet Mignon Beef Tenderloin

Indoor grilling done right…USDA Prime Filet Mignon…aka… Beef Tenderloin. Using Ninja’s latest version of their grill that also functions as a griddle and an air Fryer etc… it did a very good job, and as you will see on the video (although I forgot to mention it) Virtually No Smoke!!! which is a really Good Thing!!! I’m impressed!!!

  1. I've had mine a few weeks been cooking steaks and chops! It's amazingly accurate and faint whispers of smoke come out but nothing worth crying about! I love how heavy the grill insert is! I cooked Rare Lamb Chops the other day and it was perfect even tossed Sliced Sweet Onions and Green Pepper in with the Chops and everything came out tender and delicious! Although I think I'll Microwave the Vegetables a minute before because they were a little bit too crunchy because of the time it took to cook but there was some char on them! 😉

  2. I just received the device. As with the early Flavor wave, Halogen, and convection ovens, this can be a chore to clean. I just cooked over three days some fish, breakfast sausage, and two different breaded chicken wings. I still have a previous Flavor wave sitting in the closet and I love the glass bowl for easy cleanup. The Flavor wave used to have a plastic shield instead of the glass bowl and over time it would discolor and crack. Well, I guess things progress. I heard that this Ninja is a little easier to clean. In the Flavorwave etc. the upper control panel was the hardest to clean; one time I took the blades apart to clean them but they get dirty very fast. My fish I overcooked from frozen halibut and next time I will wrap with foil; maybe I should have used Grill instead of Airfry. The breakfast sausage was easy. I cooked two different batches of chicken wings, one at 390 degrees and the second at 320 degrees. I did not want the breading to burn. I don't have a dishwasher so I wash by hand. If you like washing dishes, you will love this product. Lots of grease. Maybe you can throw the greasy grills in the dishwasher but you will have to clean the inside of the hood by hand, and be careful because it is brushed aluminum. That is the downside to all these devices. There is an advantage to one pot cooking like throw it in the oven or InstaPot. The review is nicely organized and filmed.

  3. Got a question, have You tried silicone waffle mold? I have yet to find a video showing homemade waffle done in there.
Waffle makers leak and make a HUGE mess. I'm curious IF a waffle mold could be used in there?
Thank You for taking the time to show how to use this, Happy Holidays 😊

  4. Hi John,
Would you be kind enough to let me know the brand of temperature gun you’re using when you get a chance? Thanks. I’ve watched this a few times after returning mine and going with the XL. I wish the XL had the lower heat too but I didn’t like how shallow the griddle was. Okay, now I’m going to get off of that….. lol

  5. Really enjoy your videos. I got mine a couple of weeks ago and like it a lot. It grilled chicken wings perfectly and very fast.

How do you think this compares with the multicooker for cooking steaks? I used that last winter and thought the steaks came out good.

  6. To help to prevent your steaks from sliding is an easy fix, just place something under the front of the Ninja Grill to make it level. They made it this way to let the grease slide off. Kind of like a George Foreman Grill. I have cooked many steaks and never elevated it and never experienced the sliding. Maybe you are using too much oil

  7. How many different models of this new pro with grill and griddle are there? And is it worth it to get the smart one? I saw a 5 in pro at walmart that said grill and griddle but I am looking at the 7 in 1 not sure the difference. We had the 6 in 1 smart hubby ended up returning it and now we kind of wish we still had it. I loved it! He cooks more and wanted something else so we returned it and now I want another one. I used it quite often for hotdogs and grilled cheese and hamburgers. He saw the 6 in 1 smart for 165 somewhere and talked about getting one again but he doesn't know about this new pro grill and griddle and I just happened to stumble across it while looking up prices on the 6 in 1 smart. I'm sure he'll like it better. I'm guessing the 7 has 7 cooking functions over 5 cause I was just at Ninja comparing the 7in 1 smart and non smart. I don't see the 7 in smart one anywhere else but Amazon but Ninja has the non smart with 150 off for 199 even though I kind of want the smart with the probe it's not as much off and it's a lot more and only $20 off. Not sure what to do or if a better sale will come black friday. I like how you can keep this one open and my husband didn't like his steaks as much on the 6 in 1 smart and I think this might be better.

  8. It would be great if just one of these useless items was able to be cleaned after 5 uses. It is impossible to clean the burner area and the screen and the metal plate behind the burner and the fan and such. a very big waste. I have had all the ninja machines you have shown and they all fail due to this issue. Very bad. This in no way speaks bad about your video though.

  9. Hi, John!

Thank you for another excellent video.
I’ve never given much thought about
this Ninja device until now. 🤣 And I
must admit, I shook my head when you
    grabbed the temperature @145..but
that steak looked “spot on perfect!”
I may consider this as a Christmas gift
    for my son this year.

I look forward to more demonstrations
from you, John. I truly appreciate your
    honest evaluations.
