In today’s video we are talking the Pit Boss Pro Series 1600 vs the Weber SmokeFire pellet grill, and which one I would buy if I could only pick one. My goal with this video was to help educate you on the differences between the Pit Boss and the Weber, and to share with you which one I would buy and why if I could only pick one. Now, both the Pit Boss and Weber pellet grills are fantastic, and I have cooked some amazing food on both, but in the end…only one met my needs and I will explain the reason for that. See the specs below for more information, and as always thank you so much for watching, and feel free to drop a comment with any questions!

Dude, nice job on this comparison. I also agree about grease management. I think Weber has a huge ego and refuses to address that mistake. That said If Weber would address the grease and also the way it delivers pellets9the pellets get hung up) this thing would rock! Nice Job man!
What you have to realize about this Weber is that it is primarily a GRILL and not a low n slow smoker. The Weber is far, far, far, superior to any gas grill. I will never use a gas grill again for the rest of my life. It's the best thing since sliced bread for grilling steaks, brats, and burgers. "Grilling!"
Sure, you can do a low n slow, but you will have to use a heat shield such as foil pans or cookie sheets. It will do smoked briskets and pork butts extremely well but you must make adjustments, and it's all about leaning how to adjust. 😉
The Webber sucks. Get a different brand. Igniter goes out constantly.
The feeder/hopper on the Weber Smokerfire is garbage. It jams all the time. Not some of the time, or most of the time – all the f-ing time. Weber makes a great kettle grill, good gas grill and thats it. the Smokefire is a waste of money. Pit Boss 10/10.
The SmokeFire is a waste of money. The feeder jams all the time. Not some of the time, or most of the time. All the f-ing time. Go buy literally anything else. I just bought one and I mind as well have set $700 on fire in my driveway.
How does these compare to Louisiana LG1200?
At least the Weber is made in USA. Right in Chicago. Treager, pit boss and many other cheaper ones are made in china. Weber built way heavier also. Check out those heavy duty castor wheels.
I am loving this review… Outstanding. Thank you. I don't know that I would trust the LCD screen. LED screens tend to last a little longer with outside conditions.
I have the PB 1150 Pro and it does it all , the 1600 is bigger but the 1150 has all the same features except a light.
I agree…I wish the pit boss grates had a better fit. Too loose for me! Great comparison video!! I’m a Weber guy at heart but lately they have been banking on their name a little too much for me. They need to address a few things to get that “bang for your buck” feeling back for me. Lately, they keep raising their prices and reducing their included features which makes me feel their are better bangs for my bucks out there on the market!!!
Does it have Wi-Fi? I so want to buy a chinese device and plug it into my wifi network so I (and them and anyone else) can have a point of entry into my home network.
Have you ever compared the Weber portable gas grills to The pit Boss portable gas grills?
Pit oss vs Louisiana founders series?
Can't wait to see the gen 3 in 2023!
I have the ex4 the pros for me thicker metal so more heat retention, I do like the grease management system as it makes for easy cleaning just brush everything to the hole and dump the pan. I used both I would say the smoke is more on the weber since it is open. The controller is the best I have used. The con for me you have to use weber as a part source as the grill is too new. The grill is made with porcelain coating which we all know how long that will last. The pit boss is a nice cooker, but the big con is that is made with painted steel and starts to rust, but you can repaint, and parts are very easy to get.
I had an ex4 (gen 2) and returned it. It failed 3 1/2 hours into its first cook. I've been looking at the pit boss smokers now.
I use a power washer to clean the pro series grates cleans perfect
Hmm, tried two of those 1600's and was way less than impressed. Got another Smokefire and dang does it make amazing tasting food. Always good to see videos showing this n that though. Some day, maybe some company will get their act together and make the ultimate pellet grill, with bits n pieces borrowed from all the brands.
You didn’t touch on performance which one performs better with smoke flavor etc? Hard to make a decision based on just features I heard the Smokefire puts out tremendous smoke flavor compared to the comp.
I love my weber ex6 and it's amazing
Thanks for this great video – very thorough and helpful for first time buyers like me. On the Weber grease management point, would it be helpful if one drills bigger holes for the grease and ash to fall through?
I have a grill already, I'm looking to get a new smoker. What do you recommend, a pit boss vertical pellet smoker or a pit boss pellet grill, what model would you recommend?
Nice video, very informative. Do you have any plans to review a Camp Chef Woodwind 36? I would love to see a review of that pellet grill.
Until next time…stay safe out there.
