Fish and chip shop potato cakes, potato scallops or fritters? What do you call them?

Potato scallops in BBQ, sounds weird to me, as much as fritters does, I grew up calling these crunchy tasty treats potato cakes, it really depends where you live in Australia if you call them potato cakes or scallops.

I was always under the impression a scallop came from the ocean, and from the last time I checked, potatoes come from the ground.

No matter what you call them, they taste great. They are basically thin pieces of potato that have been dipped in batter and then usually deep fried.

I figured why not BBQ them, seems logical to give it a go.

Now if you are here looking for how to make the best mashed potato cakes from scratch video, sorry, these are just store bought frozen ones. But if you want to see how to make crispy fried potato cakes, then you have hit the jackpot. They can sometimes also be called chip shop potato fritters or potato scallops, no matter what you call them, this is how you cook them in a BBQ. Some of you may also be looking at how to make potato fritters or cooking chip shop potato fritters, same thing here but different name.

As with all my recipes I run through the selection, preparation, seasoning, BBQ set up, times and temps, so you can recreate this recipe at home.

As always, cheers for watching
