Air fryers are all the rage, and for good reason. They’re essentially countertop convection ovens, but technology has changed a lot since we initially reviewed them. There a lots of new styles and types, including the air fryer toaster oven. So which one is right for you?

Love your vids!
Can't even imagine how many times I've deferred to you expertise on your channel?
But, my concern with modern air Fryers is the non-stick coating!
With older units there were under 300 degrees so that was less of an issue, but over that, does not the coatings affect the food and increase the chances of having a return of that Cancer causing element that was so prevalent not so few years ago?
Is there a stainless option, or glass option, again which has issues over 400 degrees I think(glass)?
Please, please, give me some options that you can, or have endorsed!
Without the toxicity of the coatings that were designed to make tanks have water bead off of them and caused birth defects in women, again, not so many years ago!
I guess the stainless Toaster oven is what I should be looking at to allay my concerns?
Thank you for being open minded enough to allow for different models/styles of air fryers!
The air fryer is made of plastic and unhealthy Teflon the toaster oven is stainless steel I'd buy the combination toaster oven
None of this is good to me. I bought the air fryer with temperature and time all set. Just press which one you going to cook and thats it. Before that, I bought one with manual timer and temperature airfryer. Sometimes, it over cooked.
I bought the Ninja grill, a generic air fryer, and the instant vortex pro xl before I bought the Breville. I have fallen completely in love with the Breville. I really wanted to like the instant vortex pro because of the rotisserie, but never could find 4 lb. chickens to cook in it. 5 lbs. just wouldn't fit on the rotisserie. I get an awesome flavor and cook on a 5 or bigger pound chicken as I did cutting legs and wings off my 5 lb. rotisserie to make sure it didn't flop around and scrape the top and bottom of the cooker. The Breville was worth every penny.
Thanks. I was going to buy the toaster oven/fryer combo but after this demonstration, I decided to go with the 4qt version of the Instant Pot air fryer instead. (I am a single guy and space is limited)
Disagree completely. Unless your a total slob, the ninja foodie xl smokes all of these and gets way hotter.
I’m sure the Instant 6 quart is great for a family, but what is a good air fryer for singles/couples? I cook for one or two and don’t have room in my condo for a huge air fryer.
I have a air fryer, microwave, convection and bake oven in one.🙂 my only complaint is the air-fryer accessories are wonky. But I love that I done need ANOTHER kitchen appliance on my counter. It's all in one🥰
Can any the 10 qt or 19 qr air fryer accomodate a puzza?
I was going to ask if I can make bread toast on it…. I’m sold!
My old oven blew up a couple days before Thanksgiving; smoke, fire, etc.
They told me 8 to 12 weeks for a new oven, installed.
I got the Breville as a holiday lifeline.
I would not have gotten one otherwise, and I am glad I did.
It saved the holidays, and now I really like it. The "Smart" features are a bonus.
It's light, I was also able to transport it to supplement at my sister-in-law's big party.
Packed it in the box, bubble-wrap, put a strap around the box, carried it. Easy.
Though I don't think I will use the Breville for messy, basket "air frying." (The other "Smart" features? Yes, for sure.)
To air fry, we have a Ninja my wife got a year ago. I razzed her at the time, I said, 'too many stand-alone devices.'
But she used it, a lot, and I got curious. Now, I have completely changed my mind. Yes, I told her.
As for an oven, I think I could live with just the Breville, except at the holidays. Or a big party.
And the air fryer, well, I don't really like stand-alone appliances, but it's a winner. And not $$$.
Both of these devices are quite useful. Each for what they do best.
In the case of the Breville, that's a bunch of things.
In the case of the Air Fryer, it might be fewer, but still worthy.
U use air frier to cook healthier food, but than you drench it with butter 🧈 after is done 🤫
I liked the drawer tutorial, but I don't care about the "toaster oven" because the elements on bottom make the cleanup too difficult.
Nice review, seemed to be spot on. Subscribed.
Added butter OMG so much fat.
I dont have that brand toaster/airfryer but the basket is easily cleaned with a dish brush… super quick and easy.. if stuff is burnt on i just use the back or scraper part of the brush.
Thanks for NOT REPLYING to my request for the ratio of butter to Frank's Hot Sauce.
Thankfully, Frank's website provided the ratio which is 3 : 1; butter to Frank's.
I've noticed that questions from other viewers are also NOT replied to. 😠
What were the other brands of air fryer or toaster oven AF did you try?
i would not want to heat anything on plastic.
I'm not sure I trust non-stick surfaces touching my food.
Ain't nobody going to bring up the fact that she didn't season a damn thing before it went into the Air Fryer? And I just got a brand new Air fryer for Christmas and mine does more than what she did in this video I can go as far as to grill in mine.
Non stick is carcinogenic !!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oster no longer available anywhere
Well I never trust any video opinion given with the ROBOT voice as that is the worst choice of audio quality possible. Which leads me to believe your opinion is not to be taken serious because your mind is functioning from decades ago thinking that voice is the latest trend. If I had to listen to the ROBOT voice any longer I would have broken the glass on the Smart Oven too! Was that your girlfriends way of telling you to shut up with that voice ? 🤣🤣
Thanks for making this great video. I was initially looking to replace my 20 year old Delonghi toaster over – because the mechanical timer stopped working – and discovered the world of toaster ovens with air-fry capability. Your video helped me understand the advantages and disadvantages of a combined appliance.
Both of your suggested models are way to large for the counter space I have and your best model seems to be no longer available. That's not really surprising since it's been over a year since your recommendation.
I'm considering getting a Delonghi Livenza Compact Air Fryer Toaster Oven. It's not quite as big or expensive but I'm willing to try it out based on my past experience with the brand. Also, I think it's interior light stays on the whole time you're cooking so you can tell if things are getting done before the time would go off.
You don’t need a toaster oven ever. They’re overpriced and take up the full counter. They’re a Jack of all trades master of none.
Bake, broil, roast, toast is all the same. Heat coil and fan at all times. Can’t turn off the fan. But it’s nice.
I need an air fryer that has a basket that will hold lentils. Cooked lentils. Once they're cooked, then they can be baked/fried and turned into crunchy lentils. Best snack ever when fixed correctly.
One of the reasons to go with the Breville is due to it not having the toxic forever chemical coatings that most of the air fryers have.
I just purchased a gourmai XL and have used it twice. It fits good under my cabinets but seems to get really hot and my hubby is concerned about it starting a fire. The only spot I have for it is in my laundry room. So now I’m wondering if I should just go with an air fryer. Do they get as hot as the combination ovens?
One very important thing you failed to mention in the Toaster Air Fry Oven review is the SIZE. You can cook a full pizza, cakes, roast meat and I've used it to make perfect pavlova… All of this is impossible in traditional air fryers. For a small household it can fully replace the oven, toaster and air fryer. However this model has 2 flaws – 1. The air fry basket is very hard to clean, you're better off lining it with foil or baking paper when cooking. For messy stuff like chicken it comes with a full size non stick roasting pan that should have been used in the video example. 2. The pre-warming feature is a pain if you need to extend the cook time – it will go into pre-warm EVERY time it stops cooking. I find it's better to have it set a extra 5 minutes and use a second timer to remind you to check it (which you can do by hitting the light button to see inside) then adjust the time or hit the off button if ready. It's also got a all metal interior making it a lot safer then a normal air fryer which uses a lot of plastic parts of unknown quality.
A couple comments- air fryers need a lot of room around them- take measurements. Second- they are to be unplugged after use. I prefer to keep my toaster plugged in and have a separate toaster.
Underrated part of the Vortex is that it remembers your last time/temp for each mode. So if you frequently cook the same things, it's easy to repeat.
Conceptually they (convection ovens and air fryers) the same, so it’s not false advertising per se, but no toaster or tea oven with an “air fry” feature will even come close to a typical small drawer air fryer.
The small size, bigger fan shooting directly down (ovens are usually from the back), the crisper tray all are very important to that very crisp touch.
Toaster convection ovens are great, but do not air fry and are often the reason people think air fryers are overhyped.
Ahh. The old chicken wing facial. Nice.
I already have a toaster oven but everything I air fry is at 450 degrees. It is a Black and Decker as I had to be frugal. I am now looking into getting an air fryer and I've had some good reports on the Cosiri one. It is also not the cheapest and not the most expensive.
Our new full size oven has an air fryer function but all recipes including cookbooks we see are for counter top models and would like to know if they can be adapted to it. The toaster oven cooked wings in this video shows the inside completely splattered with chicken grease which means cleaning after each use.Not sure if it is worth the trouble.Made fried chicken last night the traditional way on stove top in cast iron pan, minimal clean up. Will probably just stay with that.
Thank you!!
I'm in the market for a new air fryer and just saw this. My question is–is the nonstick bracket in the air fryer safe, without chemicals leaching into the food? I'm making an effort to avoid all nonstick products and don't trust the air fryers, but what can you tell me about them? Thank you.
Very informative 👍 I’ll get one soon 😊
Great video! Helped me decide between the two styles! Thank you!
After watching this, I would purchase a separate toaster oven and air fryer. Mainly, because of the hassle of cleaning of the toaster oven after air frying. Seperate air fryer looks way easier to clean and maintain. Thank you for your video!
