In some regions it’s thought that if you eat Pork and Sauerkraut on New Years day you’ll have luck in the coming year. We think the real reason people eat this is because it tastes so good.
Recipe Ingredients
1 (4 pound) pork roast (we like shoulder or butt)
1 teaspoon caraway seeds
salt and pepper to taste
2 cups sauerkraut with liquid
Directions
Cut pork loin, if necessary, to fit in the slow cooker.
Season with caraway seeds, and salt and pepper to taste.
Pour sauerkraut over the roast.
Cook on High for 1 hour, then cook on Low for 5 to 6 hours.
Internal temperature of the roast should be at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).

Great
I translate "slow cooker" to dutch oven in or on top of the stove.
It’s nice to watch a video that gets straight to the point of cooking. Well done.
Nice and easy Thank you.
I was just looking for a slowcooker pork recipe when i found this. My first thaught was that s a familiar face. Then i saw the channel. It s been 10 years but nice to see Jules cooking.
Wow. This is the first time I've seen Jules do the recipe. I guess things have changes a lot in 10 years. 😉🤗
I like the addition of the apple. Very nice.
I'm in Eastern PA, watching the Mummer's Parade and have my pork in the crockpot as I type this. Can't wait to try this recipe for tonight's dinner!! 🙂
actually I think people eat pork roast and kraut on New Years because it makes you crap, clean your system out for the New Year. This is what I've always been told. I come from an area of the USA where 99% of us will be eating this meal tomorrow, western Pennsylvania.
