Smoked Chicken with Alabama White Sauce
Alabama White Sauce was made famous by Big Bob Gibson’s in Decatur, Al. The acidity pairs great with BBQ and the mayo acts as a moisture barrier especially with poultry. This is not a real common sauce that a lot of people have tried, and this recipe is my take on their classic sauce. Trust me, you have to try it!

You had me at mayonnaise..
Once again, you're making something I'm unfamiliar with, Alabama White Sauce. Will save this recipe. Thanks!
I just had a variation of this at a local BBQ place but they didn't dunk it. It was fantastic, and now I want to try it dunked!
I just made this on the traegar… I wasn't mad at it… Very very delicious 🎉party in MY mouth!
That breast bone trick! Whoa. Thanks. But, if you went 160F in the breast, what was the thigh temping at?
Big bob gibsons is the best!
If you don't DUNK You don't get it…
Nothing says "American" more than dunking an entire smoked chicken in what is essentially mayonnaise thinned out with some vinegar 😂
Breast down first. Always
I’ve tried that sauce once, and it really just reminds me of coleslaws dressing, highly disappointing for meats
Ofcourse it’s mayonnaise 🤮😂
😢 mayo
What the heck is “White BBQ Sauce”?!… Some kind of cheese/alfredo sauce? 39years on this planet, my first time hearing it. NW Indiana by the way. You can say Chicago to save mind-boggles. Ahh, mayo/vinegar… Coleslaw sauce. On your BBQ Chicken. Prefer the slaw on my BBQ Pulled Pork with real BBQ Sauce, but i like coleslaw.
ALABAMA SLAMMA!!! 💪🇺🇸💯🦅
They look like chicken bagels, 😂. Yummy

I always enjoy my best American-style BBQ in Spain, because I am indeed mad about the butter 😂 (Allergic to milk so doubt I'd find anywhere in the US I could eat BBQ – and 'American-style' places in the UK are universally rubbish in comparison. Lanzarote in the Canary Islands is home to some real Barbecue purists – and unexpected meat quality)
Once the garden is renovated though, I'll be smoking those meats like Zuck 😂
Last time I made Alabama white sauce I got my sister and cousin pregnant 😮
Is it enough mayo in this recipe? 😅
Anyone that knocks alabama white sauce or similar without trying it is a fool.
Mayonaise does magical things on meat when exposed to direct heat…
My "ghetto garlic aioli" on fish under a broiler or on a smokey Q is stuff of legends.
with that cooktime 7 log says the chicken had been done long before it it 160f
