INGREDIENTS

1 lb Flank steak
1 Tbs Cornstarch
2 Tbs soy sauce
Olive oil
1 onion
2 broccoli heads (4 cups)

For the sauce

1/2 cup beef stock
3 Tbs soy sauce
4 cloves garlic (I like a lot of garlic, feel free to use less)
1 Tbs chopped ginger
3 Tbs brown sugar
1 Tbs Corn starch

  1. Thank you for this recipe. I didn't have the ginger, but had everything else. My family loved it! Made some fried rice to go along with it. It was delicious! I love it because it was very inexpensive, simple, quick, and tasty!

  2. That is a HEAPING LOAD of brown sugar. Ginger and sugar are not necessary for this dish.However raw ginger and garlic are much better cooked with the beef. When the beef is basically done then add the onions and let them sweat in the beef garlic and ginger so the classic flavors blend and develope properly , add a little liquid as needed. Reduce or omit the brown sugar for a more savory classic flavor. Pinch and sprinkle white sugar for sweetness if desired. Add a little liquid to the pan the beef was cooked in too loosen up the flavors and skip the second dose of oil. Add broccoli and stock to lightly blanch the florets. The desired tenderness of the florets and density of the sauce will determine the amount of stock to use.
