America’s Test Kitchen is a real 2,500 square foot test kitchen located just outside of Boston that is home to more than three dozen full-time cooks and product testers. Our mission is simple: to develop the absolute best recipes for all of your favorite foods. To do this, we test each recipe 30, 40, sometimes as many as 70 times, until we arrive at the combination of ingredients, technique, temperature, cooking time, and equipment that yields the best, most-foolproof recipe.
Each week, the cast of America’s Test Kitchen brings the recipes, testings, and tastings from Cook’s Illustrated magazine to life on our public television series. With more than 2 million viewers per episode, we are the most-watched cooking show on public television.
More than 1.3 million home cooks rely on Cook’s Illustrated and Cook’s Country magazines to provide trusted recipes that work, honest ratings of equipment and supermarket ingredients, and kitchen tips.

Just burned my hand doing this , so I came here
Planning on making soup tonight and I winced just LOOKING at the lid pop off. Thank the gods we've got folks like you watching out for us idiots XD
So, not 75% full. Would have saved me two hours of kitchen cleaning and the nasty burn on my forehead that is still healing.
👍
If only I had thought to watch this BEFORE I cleaned up a gigantic mess from this exact problem 😑
I'm here cause it just happened to me lol
I have a Vitamix since 1994 and never had a problem here.
With most blenders being plastic, and gaskets being rubber: I'd think this to be common sense or something you can garner from blender instructions. Not everyone has an immersion blender, but if you're into making soup with a blender: you should.
My flatmate just got first degree burns from putting hot soup in a blender D:
i have a kitchenaid immersion blender and i like it.
because maybe some people already have a blender and not a lot of disposable income to buy an immersion blender? or they just prefer to use a blender? could those be valid reasons why?
I'd hit it.
hahha. big hot mess.
