America’s Test Kitchen is a real 2,500 square foot test kitchen located just outside of Boston that is home to more than three dozen full-time cooks and product testers. Our mission is simple: to develop the absolute best recipes for all of your favorite foods. To do this, we test each recipe 30, 40, sometimes as many as 70 times, until we arrive at the combination of ingredients, technique, temperature, cooking time, and equipment that yields the best, most-foolproof recipe.
Each week, the cast of America’s Test Kitchen brings the recipes, testings, and tastings from Cook’s Illustrated magazine to life on our public television series. With more than 2 million viewers per episode, we are the most-watched cooking show on public television.
More than 1.3 million home cooks rely on Cook’s Illustrated and Cook’s Country magazines to provide trusted recipes that work, honest ratings of equipment and supermarket ingredients, and kitchen tips.

I would not use this method with a glass jar. I've tried this in the past and have had the bottom of jar pop off clean and had milk all over the kitchen floor. Better to use a thermos or something.
Yes I have done this with a Mason Jar exactly this way and it worked perfectly!!!!!!👨🍳👨🍳
But you cant do latte art with it
Microwaves kill nutrients in the milk…..
Yuk to the microwave.
lies
didn't work for me!
i dont have the microwave…
Be sure to click on the 'cc' to watch the subtitles! hysterical.
Foamed milk? If you're at home, just lather on Cool Whip. Better yet, put a scoop of ice cream in your cup.
the little xylophone intro and outro song sounds vaguely similar to the new EddsWorld theme song intro/jingle… anyone else agree?
Anyone try this with Almond Milk? Wonder if it works just as well.
Will this work with hot chocolate?
Just saved me $5 a day for the rest of my life.

Those Mason Jars are awesome… they keep my weed fresh !
and I'm sitting here trying to blow away any foam on any of my drinks, people actually like to drink… foam?
Wow, the captioning on this is crazy! Check it out if you want a good laugh!
Please consider adding quality captioning to your videos for deaf/HOH viewers. Please don't depend upon google's auto captioning unless you want us to think you talk like idiots. 🙂
I found using a french press then pumping vigorously to work a lot better than a jar.
My pop used to have a "lazy Susan" using those. The lids were screwed into a round piece of plywood which was bolted to the underneath of a shelf using washers and double nuts on ea. side of the plywood to make a makeshift "bearing". They ARE tough, but I managed to break one every now and then. Of course, I could break a ball peen hammer when I was a kid, too. -grin-
Woah, never thought of using them for that. Great idea, I'll have to try that.
Excellent idea!
I have been using old peanut butter jars (that have been emptied and cleaned) to do the same thing since college.
BTW: Old PB and Mayo jars are very tough, useful for storing / organizing nails, screws & other hardware; Also useful for mixing paint and wood finishes.
I use them to mix salad dressings and dessert toppings.
So, you don't need to buy Mason jars if you don't already have them.
I thought the idea here is not to get another gadget?
That's great if you want to make coffee from the mid 1980's. You will get a better result by using a coffee plunger. Once you heat the milk add to plunger and pump the handle up and down around 8-10 times. You will have micro foam, adding a great texture to your latte.
Love it
Great tip, I'm totally going to do this 🙂
