AYUTTHAYA, THAILAND – One of the greatest delicacies in Thailand are giant freshwater river prawns – they are some of the biggest and tastiest in the world. Today we’re going to one of my favorite river prawn restaurants in Thailand and we’ll also eat at a few Thai food gems in Ayutthaya.
Baan Ta-Koh-Rai (บ้านตะโกราย) – https://maps.app.goo.gl/oZKNu8e432YcwEKv7 – This restaurant in Ayutthaya was featured in the Michelin Guide and it’s a fantastic place to try local central Thai dishes that especially revolve around freshwater fish and shrimp. I tried the Cartilage Pork Ribs with Tree Basil (ผัดกระดูกอ่อนใบยี่หร่า) , Shrimp relish (แสร้งว่ากุ้ง), Fish choo chee curry (ฉู่ฉี่ปลาเนื้ออ่อน), Jungle curry fish balls (แกงป่าลูกชิ้นปลากราย)
Total price: 1,410 THB ($38.99)
Rimnam Restaurant (ร้านริมน้ำบางไทรอยุธยา) – https://maps.app.goo.gl/3F7uDSAfn4KmkX117 – This is one of the best places to eat huge Thai river prawns (freshwater shrimp) in Ayutthaya. Don’t miss the Grilled prawns (กุ้งเผา), Prawn claws with lotus stems (ก้ามกุ้งผัดสายบัว), Crab relish (หลนปู), Choo chee fish curry (ปลาน้ำเงินฉู่ฉี่). Price – 1,500 THB ($41.77) per kg
Ha Dak Aeng Pochana (ร้านหาแดกเองโภชนา) – https://maps.app.goo.gl/HRSLFhLKsS1dkViF9 – This is a self service Thai jungle food restaurant and the Chef is hilarious. Don’t miss the Small fried fish (ปลาทรายทอด), Fried fish balls (ทอดมันปลา), Spicy fried frog (กบผัดเผ็ด), Tom yum fish eggs (ต้มยำไข่ปลาสวาย). Total price – 1,060 THB ($29.52)
Again, I’ve had Thai freshwater river shrimp many times, but they always are something special!

Dear Mark. Amazing videos, and amazing food cultures that are being exposed here. My question here is as follows: What do you do with all the food on the table? Do you finish it all? Many thanks
more videos of mark weins is a disgrace to thailand and disrespect to a civilized audience. How long will this outfit continue with it; should be deleted.
No one likes Thai Food more than Mark
All the prepared food looks so spicy and very tasty. It is a wonderful way of preparing all different kinds of food. The people living in these parts of the world look so happy when they are cooking; I hope the world is ready of this type of wonderful food. Mark, you are doing a great job of showing the world how to eat different foods!

Just love the way you made this video. Never get tired of watching your videos.
That food not just looks great… but it must be great with your ‘wind-blown’ hair to get there. “Yip Yip, off to the spot…” j/k 👍👍😋 jokes aside… great all-mo on that head butter.
That’s why these cooks/chefs must be respected; might seem simple, but they know their stuff. Kudos Mark. Thank you for another great vid. 🤙👍🤙
I love their seafood like prawns, lobsters: so tasty and fresh. Expensive in Toronto, Canada.
Terima kasih 👍
