I agree with the six different styles, Dan.
certainly the surgeon
Let me introduce you to "The Carver" – a utensil method where corn is cut off the cob…
And "The Raker" in which a person uses a fork, rakes up a bite full and eats it that way.
I found your video when my friends, a whole family of Rakers, looked at me funny when I told them I bite my corn off the cob.
I had never before seen anyone raking corn off the cob with a fork. It picks up more of the fiber.
Oh my gosh….my family always had me labelled the weirdo with the way I ate COTB…now I know I belong to a group called the surgeons…..😅
Reverse-hybrid: 1x typewriter first followed by log roll
Didn’t respond to the first video, because I’m a hybrid. Didn’t know I could claim that.
A hybrid of log runner, type writer and the surgeon…
I would never allow my children to eat cotc Anarchist style. Never!
So does this analysis suggest a Type A personality with some types? Or possibly OCD?
Just curious if any way a person chomps down and it suggests something. I am an anarchist.
the surgeon, just cleaner.
i was a surgical typewriter…lol! now i just wish i could eat corn on the cob but those days are gone due to dental work. corn OFF the cob is just not the same. 🙁
I'm a surgeon since waay back. I got to the technique on my own as a kid and I don't talk to most folks about eating corn so not sure if I've ever met another.
Surgeon style or as I used to think of it "tooth plucker" doesn't get corn mashed between your teeth at all which is why I guess I first did it.
Many Japanese people eat COTC with pop-out style where, you'll pop out a row of kernels with your thumb, then eat them. The result is a super clean cob similar to the surgeon. Time consuming but very satisfying.
Log runner the sides into surgical typewriter. Lets you really enjoy the full germ of the kernels and get maximum fiber.
surgeon. i get a lot of admiration and compliments when i do it with friends.
Surgeon for sure.
To properly get everything from the cob after log running you must suck on the cob. Pure heaven.
Typewriter all the way!!!
This is so funny. WAY over thought in typical Cooks Illustrated style. ANARCHY IN THE COTC!
I don't know if anyone talked about another method but what about picking one kernel at a time with your fingers? It's slow but you get every clean kernel 😂
Life-long surgeon
So what your're saying is be sure and view this video while loaded.
Love these type of commentaries…but just wondering….how come we have to make even eating corn controversial? 🤔🤣🙄
The fact that this is being explained with total seriousness has me wondering… Is this being done at an attempt at levity or, are you serious, Dan???
I'm a surgeon typewriter. The messiest part is starting the initial 3-4 canal from left to right, it can be done "surgical", but sometimes I just "typewriter" this pass. Then I surgical eat ONE row of corn from the "bottom" typewriter style. At the very end, it is a very clean cob that is left.
hybrid seems good,
I"m a hybrider but I take off both ends first then that is my handles.
I'm a ( surgical typewriter ) when I was little it took me four passes to eat a whole cob of corn 🌽 😋 now since I've become an adult it only takes three passes 🙃
I’m an anarchist!!!
Asa kid, I was a typewriter, as I got older I became a surgeon.
Surgeon all the way!!! It doesn’t get it stuck in your teeth as much and you don’t get as much butter/toppings on your face. I use my bottom teeth. Someone told me about this years ago, it’s counterintuitive at first, but once you get in the groove, it’s just as fast as the typewriter.
Thank you for bringing attention to this very important issue! I ❤️🌽
I’m a hybrid but love the idea of the chain saw for my kid 👍
My Chinese and Korean friends use something similar to the surgeon method while holding the cob vertically.
My favorite is just cutting it off the cob and using a fork.
I have been the surgeon since I was a kid
You must be really bored to watch this.
I chainsaw then go in as a surgeon, full butter S&P as the season here is short ☺ Love all your vids!
I'm the surgeon! I'm a fast eater for like just a whole plate of mush no bones or cobs I just shovel food into my mouth but I also like to take my time and clean, like I mean CLEAN the flesh off of bone, crustacean flesh out of shells, kernals off of cobs, fish off of their bones, like I am meticulous about it and can spend hours sucking food off of hard things dry and clean!😅
How does the surgeon work? I can't even fathom what the technique is?
I eat corn with the cob on a vertical position from the top, spiraling on the way down. Am I a log runner?
I've been doing the surgeon since I was a kid. And I'm 40 now.
No need to bite the kernels. You can pluck them out by just using your upper teeth. You end up with very clean cobs. 😁
I do the Surgeon Typewriter. Bottom teeth pluck out the corn as I go across the row, then go down a row and repeat.
