  1. Wow, loved this segment even though I rarely make yellow cake. I feel that most people don't eat cake w/o some sort of frosting and that could throw everything out of whack. Ms. Chang was such a lovely commentator.

  2. As I listen to most of the reviews, I think of a common dilemma I face when eating gluten-free baked goods. I always say, “I like this, but…🤔…something is missing.” You guessed it! Regarding cake mixes, many people have been conditioned to “artificial flavors,” and if companies choose to not use them, when eating the product, we question “what’s missing?”😂😂😂😂

  3. Since Bob's Red Mill and 365 were at the bottom, it seems you need the artificial ingredients and dough conditioners to get a decent product. Trader Joes cake mixes are the best followed by Krusteaz.

  4. I took a Wilton cake decorating class back in 2000 and they recommended Dincan Hines classic as the best fir taste and decorating properties. Sadly I am now very gluten intolerant and no longer eat regular cakes. I usually use the Pillsbury GF yellow cake mix. It is pretty good as far as gluten free goes.

  5. Tip: using a hand mixer beat the eggs, oil and water together first. Then add to the box mix. I've done this for years and it makes the cake fluffy. When ppl eat my cakes they always are amazed at their light and fluffiness and ask where I bought it. I tell them it's just a box cake. But they don't believe me. It's the mixing liquids separate tip every time.

  6. The name of this one was Pillsbury Moist Supreme Yellow, which begins around the 22 minute mark of the full video. I really enjoyed the full thing because there were a few big surprises, so I'd recommend watching the whole thing if you have time.

  7. I made decorated cakes for children's birthday parties about 30 years ago. I used Duncan Hines, and used milk for the water, melted butter instead of oil, and added a little vanilla extract. It made a dependably tasty cake with a good texture for holding up to icing, and kept well.

  8. This was super interesting and helpful to watch.

I would love to have seen the Dolly Parton Duncan Hines vanilla cake mix included. I feel like it would have done really well – it uses 1 stick of butter, 4 eggs, and 1/2 cup of milk. Seriously – it is such a great box cake mix!!

  9. Sorry but box cakes are trash, full of chemicals and fats we don’t need. Baking a cake from scratch is not much harder and clean up is the same for both. ATK panel is not impressive considering they are professional cooks and bakers.
