The Best Beef Stroganoff with Cream of Mushroom Recipe

📝 Ingredients:
750g beef
1-2 onions
3 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon flour
200g sour cream
1 teaspoon mustard
2-3 cups beef broth
1-2 bay leaves
Salt
Pepper
Fresh parsley

🍳 Recipe Steps:
Sauté the Aromatics:
Peel and finely chop the onions. Melt butter in a large pan and sauté the onions until soft and golden.

Add Mushrooms (if using):
Slice the mushrooms and cook them with the onions until golden and reduced.

Make the Creamy Sauce:
Sprinkle flour over the onion-mushroom mix and stir well. Gradually add the sour cream while mixing. Stir in mustard and enough beef broth to create a smooth, creamy sauce. Cover and set aside.

Prepare the Beef:
Slice the beef into thin strips, cutting against the grain. Heat oil in a pan and sear the beef strips in batches until browned on both sides. Transfer each batch into the prepared sauce.

Simmer and Season:
Once all the meat is added, adjust the sauce thickness with more broth if needed. Season with salt, pepper, and bay leaves. Cover and simmer on low for about 30 minutes until the beef is tender and full of flavor.

Finish and Serve:
Remove bay leaves. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley and serve hot with mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice.
