SLOW COOKER BBQ CHICKEN THIGHS RECIPE INGREDIENTS
2 lbs chicken thighs and chicken legs
1 Tablespoon chili powder
1 Tablespoon cumin
1 Tablespoon ground black pepper
1 Tablespoon onion powder
1 Tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoons brown sugar (I added one more tablespoon for a sweeter rub)
1 Tablespoon smoked paprika
Olive Oil spray
Your favorite BBQ Sauce (I’m using Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce)
Our crockpot bbq chicken recipe is super easy and starts with dusting 2 pounds of chicken legs and chicken thighs with the dry rub. To make the dry rub, mix the dry spices together. Taste a little bit of the mixture to see if you like the combination of flavors. I like a slightly more sweet bbq rub for our chicken, so I’ve added a one more tablespoon of brown sugar. If you like a spicier bbq chicken, add a bit more chili powder, black pepper or a touch of cayenne pepper.
Prepare the crockpot with a coating of spray oil.
Dust the chicken thighs and chicken legs with the rub, and layer it into the prepared crockpot. Drizzle on the Sweet Baby Rays BBQ Sauce, and spread it gently over the chicken using a basting brush or the back of a spoon. Don’t add additional liquid to the slow cooker, the chicken will release juices as it cooks.
Cover the slow cooker and cook on HIGH for 2 ½ to 3 hours until the chicken is cooked through or reaches an internal temperature of 165F. After the chicken is done cooking in the slow cooker, I add a little more bbq sauce and pop it under the broiler or onto the grill for a few minutes to crisp the skin.
If you’re taking this crockpot barbecue chicken to a potluck or picnic, you can cook the chicken in the crockpot or slow cooker until it’s finished, then take the chicken to your event and finish it on the grill there!
Thank you so much for watching! I’ll see you in the next video!

I made this today, and it is fantastic! Flavorful, and tender and moist. I did sear the pieces before I put them in the crockpot. Thanks Annie for an awesome recipe.
Can’t wait to try. New subscriber ❤
Something seems off with this recipe. Add up the Tablespoons of spices she uses (8), that is a HALF cup of spice, not counting the salt and extra T of brown sugar she uses. For only 2lbs of chicken? I suspect she used a lot more chicken than that. When I did 3.25 lbs of chicken I still put it on very thick and had probably 3 T left of the rub. It won't go to waste I just put it in a zip lock bag for next time, but I honestly think something is wrong here. I watch her video she does appear to use a Tablespoon, so my guess is the amount of chicken.
I made this. Eat it and went back out to buy more chicken. So easy and delicious!
Luckily I got some legs on sale😊.
Make sure to wash the meat .
I usually rinse with water then place meat in a bowl with water, white distilled vinegar & scrub it.
I scrape it , using a knife and thick 🍋 slices, for feathers and otner imperfections
Then i rinse the meat AGAIN
New subie. You met my dry spice minimum. 😀😊 Will try this, it looks delicious.

Have you ever used molasses instead of the brown sugar; at least part way?
Can I crisp it up and then put it in the slow cooker to take it to my potluck?
I’m making this again for the 27th time 😂 it’s sooooo good! Thank you!!!

WHY WOULD YOU SET YOUR CROCKPOT ON HIGH INSTEAD OF LOW? DOESN'T IT COME OUT MORE TENDER ON LOW?
Great recipe! Also, you have a cute voice! 😉
If you want to cook it long and low, can you and if so, how long on low? I need to start cooking early in the day.
I did this last week and it was delicious. Doing this recipe again this weekend.
I want to try this with just a dry rub. I do not like sauce.
