Don't let them fool you, this is a paid commercial, they have another video here on youtube from 2015 and the supposed "winner" is also the same one, but if you go to Amazon to check the reviews most people are angry because they bought the thermometer recommended in the video trusting what they claim and are very disappointed. I am glad I read the reviews in Amazon, I was going to buy it too.

  10. CDN 09502000954 ProAccurate Oven thermometer. Bought it on YOUR recommendation. Sort of worked – ONE TIME! Then the needle dropped to zero and it never worked again!
    If I tap it now, I can get the display to read 450° (see image.)
    It seems ATK is getting awful lax on their testing criteria & reviews of late. I have already received a replacement that works so far – thanks, Amazon – but only time will tell.

  14. Do these thermometers give the air temperature of the oven? Surely if the thermometer is in contact with a hot surface (such as the bottom of the oven), the thermometer will give a reading higher than the air temperature…won't it?

  15. I have that CDN thermometer but the oven repair man said its not accurate. I called him because the thermometer only reads 325f when i put it on 350f. He went to check my oven put a sensor and said my oven is working fine my thermometer not. And appliance company doesnt advice using this kind of equipment. I got confused.

  17. I bought the “winner” and now wonder if I need another thermometer to double check the temp. I had a feeling my oven was off somewhat, so now after testing, how do I test the test? I wouldn’t have questioned the validity of the thermometer till I watched your test.

    No new models have come out since then? Or is this more or less a rehash video from the one back in 2015? 🙂

  19. Amazon has a lot of poor reviews of this thermometer, saying it’s inaccurate. Has anybody had successful or unsuccessful experience with this thermometer as of late? Also, the one pictured on amazon looks a bit different than the one in this review. The one on amazon has a red colorization between the different temperature markings and the one in the video does not. Thanks in advance, and thank you ATK for the great videos and reviews.

  21. I purchased this product based upon your recommendation. I am sorry that I made this purchase. The thermometer is NOT accurate, and I have tested it numerous times. I suggest that your viewers do NOT purchase the winner of your oven thermometer test….It failed my test numerous times.

  22. +America's Test Kitchen – Amazon's ratings for your winner weren't so good. It also looks too small to read or sit on oven rack easily. Are you sure you gave the correct listing? What did you find lacking in the large Taylor oven thermometer sitting in the back row? That one seems to have better reviews and it looks like it would be more stable and easier to read.

  27. Your updated link goes to an updated product (doesn't look anything like the one you tested and appears in your video) that is very poorly reviewed by purchasers as very INaccurate; ten percent was mentioned more than once in reviews.
