The lack of sauce was my knock when I ate Lockhart as well. I like the flavor of BBQ sauce. It’s not a knock against the meat.

I enjoy Lockhart BBQ but I agree about the sauce. The miss with the sauce is, the pit master believes the meat is good enough to stand in its own. And it is! But it is also very rich from the fat and the sauce helps to cut that richness. I like Lockhart but always wish for sauce!

I asked a homelss couple to leave. They were not ordering. They unpacked their dirty chlothes on table. Then they proceeded to give me 1 star reviews. In a month they and their friends posted 10 1 star reviews. I no longer trust reviews

Thanks for the great barbecue and I love that you got back at the food critic. Sometimes I think food critics have no taste buds whatsoever. No sense of adventure. If it doesn't fit their reality of what a good meal should be, it's bad.
