I think this could work with a tin of cherries rather than raw ones? It looks awfully like some recipes I've seen with a tin of fruit to make cake batter.

My mom once made brownie mix from a box and left out the eggs. To get to hold together, I think she added water. When I cut into it, it almost shattered. It was truly inedible.
