This Ginger Beef is BETTER Than Takeaway! 脆皮姜汁牛肉 Chinese Tender Beef Recipe
Serves 3 – 4 pax
INGREDIENTS
Marinated Beef:
280g (9.9oz) flank steak, cut into strips
Juice of ½ thumb-sized young ginger, reserve the ginger pulp for the sauce
1 tbsp light soy sauce
⅓ tsp bicarbonate of soda
½ tsp sugar
A few dashes of black pepper
30ml (1.01 fl oz) water
7 tbsp cornflour or potato starch
Other Ingredients:
100g (3.5oz) red onion, sliced
15g (0.5oz) young ginger, minced
4 cloves garlic, chopped
100ml (3.38 fl oz) water
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp light soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tbsp rice vinegar
Some roasted sesame seeds
Some chopped spring onions

As a Canadian, I wish people talked more about how important Chinese people are to Canada’s culture.
Even very small towns will have a chinese restaurant. If a town only has 1 restaurant it is probably a chinese restaurant.
The food may not always be authentic but I hope people never forget or underestimate how important chinese immigrants have been to making Canada.
