Beer
Carbonated beverages is probably the worst choice.
Teaser video not worth watching. I have become very disappointed with ATK it seems to be in corporate decline.
Warm water
Mint chocolate
I make yogurt, grated cucumber and mint as a side dish. Very cooling. Or just a glass of milk.
I just wanted to hear Lan’s magical voice 😁
Milk
What about yogurt / frozen vanilla yogurt?
Bro is the sweetest Indian dude I ever met
Perfect pour 🍺
It feels like ATK has really fallen-off in the past few years.
This is a total waste of time. Not at all what I expect for the America’s test kitchen.
Sweet foods and drinks help tame the burn. Try ice cream or horchata.
Dairy.
Honey works well.
The hottest food i eat is a shake of black pepper and it's just become tolerable in my 70s.
Vanilla ice cream is the best! Just hold it in your mouth!
Love a video that poses a question and then fails to answer it.
i’d like to see it tried with something like Baiju instead
Hard liquor is the answer. Not beer.
Your body’s reaction and producing mucus, is the best way to deal with the effects of Capsaicin.
It’s 2026 and we are still making content acting like it’s a new revelation that you shouldn’t drink water to relieve spice.
It’s milk, it’s always been milk, it’s been repeated ad nauseum for decades at this point.
lan is nice
You know what they say about American beer? It’s like having ‘sox’ in a canoe; it’s frelling close to water.
What are the better options?!
citrus, like lime juice works
So, to test which works best you posted a video that only shows the results for one option that didn’t work.
That was…helpful?
Milk,Cheese…?
Will suffer for ice cream…
British mead?
This test seems pretty unsound because everyone has different spice tolerance. You should have had each person try all the options, spaced apart throughout the day so the results weren't impacted by heat building up
Sour cream. Oil based because capsaicin is oil soluble and it's cold. Win win
A mouthful of any type of edible oil, swishing aroud for a couple of minutes ( depending on bad the burn is), spit it out and the burn will be compltetly gone. If it's a really bad burn( for example you just drank a whole bottle of ghost pepper hot sauce), most other methods will only give you momentay relief unless you continuously conusme it until the burn reduces to a tolerable level. You might eng up eating a lot more calories than you would have liked just to soothe a burn. This method is extremely effective at a low cost financially or engergy wise.
Pickle.. sweet and sour veggie pickle works wonders for me
Should have tried lemon or lime. Bite it and the acid will break down the capsaicin and wash it away.
I was wondering how ice cream might work? Cold milk product seems like a good way to go
I figured out the best solution, so far. Drink milk, but do not swallow. Use your teeth to scrape your tongue while the milk is in your mouth. Do this for 1 to 2 minutes. Spit the milk out and repeat if necessary. DO NOT SWALLOW THE MILK.
so ask a question and then don't give the answer?
