It's abominable. Restaurants just call it "crab" nowadays. The owner of an expensive place once told me that "Everybody knows when it says crab, that they mean surami."

Imagine making an imitation food product with only enough of the thing it’s imitating in it to give people with allergies to the original a violent reaction eitherway

Yuck! No wonder why my mom never touched that stuff.

I can tell imitation crab at first sniff and taste. The same goes for scallops. I don't like most seafood, which makes it easier to tell the difference.

Surimi would be bad labeling?

I was in Mexico and they put this in cocktails .. with shrimp . Scallops and octopus
