  1. As an engineer I can tell you this is pretty dumb. Anything in way of flavor just burns off since it is all alcohol based. What gets to your drink (if any) is mostly water, carbon and carbon based potentially carcinogens bi products that taste like carbon.

    I feel like we have gone from culinary arts, to just pyrotechnics visual effects now …

    This also explains why she wants to chug it instead of sip and savor it.

  2. This makes sense because the peeler does a good job not taking much bitter pith, which you might not want. But when flaming since you aren't soaking it anyway, it doesn't matter how much pith you take.
