The open of dove season means you have to grab extra tight on the leash when you take your dog on a walk where you're not out hunting dove.

Florida man here. Avid hunter/angler/smoker. My 4 children kill and clean every dove that comes in our yard. No matter what time of the year. They eat our chicken food so we literally smoke em. Salt brine 10 at a time for 2 days. Rinse, cover in mustard and home made beef tallow. Season with Everglades or the faithful meat church and reverse sear. Wow are they amazing. I’m 34, 5 children by 28 lost one. My 3 sons get up early and shoot the crap out of anything that gets near their chicken business. Dove is one of my fave small game birds. The Florida State Constitution says that a man can forge for food on his land. I say that for all the Karen’s out there that are about to bitch at me for being a free man and living free somehow there’s always more doves. I’m not gonna talk about ribeye in the sky, but if you wanna know about sandhill cranes, I hear from someone I trust that says they taste really really really good with the little salt and pepper

I never knew doves were edible. Here in NY some Chinese food places use pigeons and call it chicken. Out of all the tasty poultry, I wouldn't try neither of these birds lol
