My dear, I like your idea of baking soda that is a very good science we should know. Bravo!!
Would baking soda help to soften green beans that were picked when they're past young, so that they're somewhat tough and woody? I can't do my own shopping, so I've gotten a lot of elderly beans lately. I've been cooking them low and long, Appalachian style.
