The microwave trick works with just water as well. Microwave a bowl of water for 5+ minutes, and the steam will loosen all the stuck-on bits. Then you just wipe it away.
Just don't use vinegar on marble or quartzite countertops!!! It will etch them, literally eating away at the surface and leaving dull, rough spots. Only use mild soap and water or neutral cleaners formulated specifically for natural stone on marble.

I knew someone who worked as a cleaner in a hospital. All the bathrooms were cleaned w Cleaning Vinegar (higher acidity).
I just use straight white vinegar. It is already diluted to 5%…no need to dilute it further.

Since vinegar can be bought with different strengths, it would be helpful to know if you are talking about cooking or cleaning vinegar!
