The wonderful Akis Petretzikis has a fantastic moussaka recipe using baked vegetables instead of fried to make it that little bit lighter. Delicious layers of potato, aubergine, courgette and beef, all topped off with a creamy béchamel sauce and a handful of parmesan. The perfect tasty teatime treat.

I made this moussaka, it is excellent.
Great recipe, I made it yesterday. Thank you
I always thought the béchamel was mashed potato!😊
Cool for an hour? That won't be very warm anymore … is that the idea?
The best Moussaka
Musakka is NOT greek. It is ottoman turkish. Thanks to arabs that brought it to the empire
Thanks Akis you are the best
My Mum used always make it. But she used lamb. One of my all time favourite foods!
My ex Mother in Law used to make me and my Daughter this. Omg – I miss her cooking! This and Pastitsio! Now I want to learn it for my Daughter.
Why the horrible and distracting "music?"
I can’t find the recipe? Is the link gone? I tried going to the website but this version of moussaka isn’t there.

I made this the other day and MY GOD it was delicious.
I couldn't stop eating it.
I'm going to try and make it again but this time a vegetarian version subbing meat for Quorn and finely chopped mushrooms and adding Worcestershire sauce to give it a meaty flavour.
You area very good chef.
I love this recipe, ive made it many times and here I am again! My husband is turkish actually and we will in turkey now and mousakka here is a little bit different, but coming from greek grandparents i love this style and so does everyone else, its literally to die for, thank you 💚
Made it for dinner last night- I wasn’t sure I’d like those 20min intervals between layers while they baked, but it worked PERFECTLY with a busy toddler desperately needing mommy cuddles during dinner prep 🥰🥰🥰 O yea, and it turned out DELISH 🥳🥳🥳
As good as the moussaka looks.. I’d rather have him🤤😇
so its kinda like shepherds pie…
I’ve made this three times already, and even made a veggie version for my brother using lentils and mushrooms instead of the beef mince. It is a beautiful recipe and everyone keeps on saying that I need to make it again. Thx so much Akis (and Jamie for creating the platform for all of these scrumptious recipes). From Claudia, South Africa.
Where are the list of ingredients?
Can you assemble it ahead of time and bake later?
Thank you so much for this fantastic recipe. Our family loved it! We are looking forward to reheating the leftovers already!
This is phenomenal!
Made this for my friends from Brasil and they loved it. Had to give them the leftovers to take home so will have to make more tomorrow. The salad is great too!
